Its only a choil if its its on the ricaso. What you got there is a finger groove. FYI

Yeah, I know. I think it's a pretty commonly understood use of the word though.

There's a finger groove just below the lock to clarify, I didn't add a sharpening choil.

Been gone a while but I've returned. I can't remember if I managed to ship everything out that I offered a couple months ago (or what I offered up) so if you anyone didn't receive what they were supposed to get, please email me about it and I'll get it out to you. Glad to see the thread is still alive, even if the mods are taking some of the extra entertainment out of it.

I just wanted to acknowledge a very generous PIF I just received from Cutter17. He offered up 2 of his father's Case barlows, a spear point and a one arm razor, a few threads back an after a few mail snafus they finally arrived and they are really perfect. I'm loving them. Thanks again Cutter.

I'm going to add up a brand spanking new Old Hickory steak knife set. Wood handles made of... wood... and carbon steel blades. These will make excellent knives to that person who needs a touch of class at the dinner table. Note that the blades have never been sharpened and they are nowhere close to sharp. Work WILL be involved to get them into cutting shape. Two of the blades also need their rivets peened.

Stipulations are as follows. You must want them to use, and to understand that they will require maintenance (wood handles and carbon steel blades). They need edges put on them. Blades haven't yet rusted, but they will likely spot in the mail. These are for somebody who wants nice steak knives to love and care for, not cheap grocery store junk that you let sit in the sink for a week then toss in the dishwasher. Shipping likely won't be too cheap because I am shipping them in original packaging, so I want the money to be well spent. First claim (please also send an email, I can't stalk this thread all the time). The claimant doesn't have to have thrown something in yet, but that would be real cool if you have already or will in response.

Sorry for the particularly anal rules, I just think these knives are too cool to not go to a loving home. The standard Old Hickory knives engraving or whatever they call it is such a sweet pattern.

Throwing up a second. This one is for my small skinner blade blank bought from Woodcraft. Blade is about 2" long with a roughly 3" handle, made of a solid piece of AUS-6 steel. I lost the packaging, so I will have to experiment with different makeshift sheaths in hopes of avoiding having to just dull the blade before is send it. The blade has no handles, you need to make your own, so this knife must go to someone who will use it or gift it to somebody who is in need of a decent little fixed blade.

Hey Derek - great PIF. A set of steak knives is the one thing I've been in need of. I actually love caring for old carbon steel, putting an edge on it and oiling the wood. I'd love to take you up on your offer but may let it sit to see of anyone else is interested tomorrow. Will email you as well. Best.

The Old Hickory knives are yours.

Do you happen to have a picture of it? (dkb45 - small skinner blank)

Also the gerber I posted a few pages ago is still available to a good home to whoever may need it? :)

I'll put in for it unless someone else had first dibs.

And, as promised, i have something else to offer for the new year ;)

One Buck small Vantage Select.

This one has been used, but no evil scratches on it. Got it as a "bonus" in a trade, but it is just too small for my liking, so I thought I'll give it to someone who likes smallish knives...

Just post why you want it and I'll chose someone in a few days, girls/women preferred!

I'd love the buck if its not spoken for yet. I'm a huge fan of smallish knives. If you track back my purchase history from my threads I basically have picked up an entire library and who's who of smallish knives. The buck is one that I havmt tried yet. My most recent smallish knives I gave away on the forum. A drifter, a delica and two sodbusters. The last three was a re-pif. I have also tried the lake mini grip chill srm's ambitious and more that I either sold or gave away. I currrently edc a peanut!

Sorry man, got the claim from mjn first. When in doubt, always email. I was just sitting on the couch playing the Xbox all night yesterday, but my phone is pretty much always with me in case I get an email. If I decide to give anything else away I will try and remember to give you first shot.

Got the email from you. It is all yours. I'm going to Gorilla Tape over the edge so I don't have to dull it. The edge isn't that sharp, but it is capable of cutting. I'll try to get it out sometime next week, since our foot of snow is finally melted from the inexplicable rain (luckily the flooding isn't an issue here).

WOW great to see the generosity of the members here. I am new to this and don't have much but I will see if I can pif anything. I hope this keeps going for a while.

It is yours! Just mail me your address and I'll send it on Wednesday (takes up to 10 business days for delivery they told me...)

Survey: trying to figure out my next pif to post. Are there any home chefs out there by chance?

Ok well then...

I'm going to offer up one of my more useful knives. I have multiples of these and it will come in near mint user condition. These are my go to knives for carving ham, turkey, pot roasts and I guarantee they will zip through meat. I normally wouldn't buy Cutco but on that note it's made in the USA same factory as Kabar and the heat treat on the 440A is awesome. These came with my wife as she sold them in college years ago.

It's a petite carver. I don't know which one I have a multiple of but I will check today and send it out. If there is more interest than just one person I will use a random number generator otherwise it's not an EDC so I'm certain only someone who will want it will take it. But other than that you just need to show in your post history that you are a member of BF and that you contribute to posts other than GAW's. Thanks! PS It has a lifetime warranty and sharpening service as well.

I stole this pic from the internet but you get the gist.
