Nope, the design is less likely to fail due to round tang transition and lack of stress risers.

Ontario is tough yes, but the kabar is tougher.

They both share the tooj influence though. He worked for Ontario before heading kabar development.

Oh man. I could also say that the whopper is much better than the Big Mac, but without any data or evidence, it's just a fanboy opinion! :D

Good lord guys, scratch all that...!!!

I was thinking of the Marine raider bowie.

I need SLEEP.

Sorry for he miss information, still the majority of what was said remains true.

Also, I'm gunna venture out and say the steel used in the Taiwanese 1277 is better than 1095 for beating on. They call it 1080 or something but its not, its a type of spring steel and identical to cold steels "Carbon V"

Holy smokes, that thing is a big 'un! I like what you've done to the grips. I have an ESEE 3 now, courtesy of Whetstone, and am loving it. But I gotta say, for big knife tasks, I prefer...well, you know...MACHETES!

It weighs just about the same as a 14" machete from Imacasa or Tramontina. Of course, it is also thicker and way better balanced. If I just need a big knife, I take it out. Otherwise I will take the 14" trail machete and a hatchet or hawk. It's always good to be able to attach everything to the Junglas sheath and mount it anywhere on my pack though. I lucked out and got my 6 for $60 I believe.

See my post below yours. The ESEE Lite Machete is an Imacasa blade, not covered by ESEE warranty completely like their knives. Better option to get a Condor with micarta. Or better yet a tramontina or imacasa you'll never be afraid to use for ugly jobs! Get it from baryonyxknife, and he will mod it for you if you wish for a very small fee. I had my edge brought down to the handle for close work, and had the spine squared for firesteel. It's a real do-all tool now.

Thanks I'll look into those !!

How old is this kid? Cuz that thing is awesome. Very talented.

He's 12 now and is just starting to show interest in other outdoor activities besides just hunting. He is begging to go w/ me on the Appalachian Trail trip I'm planning for next year.....just afraid it will be too much for him !

Putting it out there again - Who wants a Leatherman Squirt? Its similar to a Micra, but a little smaller. It unfolds into a fantastic pair of scissors. Let me know by post here and email me your address and include your username.

if this is still available, I'd really appreciate it. I carry a micra every day and I don't see mine at the moment. Problem is, it's so darn useful I take it out everywhere!

I tried to email you but there is no option on your profile.
you can email me and I'll shoot you my details if I qualify.

One machete/pry bar that's impressed me is the Ontario Sp8. I paid $50 for mine and it's a beast of a chopper. 1/4" thick 10" blade made in the USA.

One downfall of becker is the crappy sheaths and grivory handles. Yes there is now micarta offered and the tweener sheaths are great but once you buy micarta and a better sheath your at the ESEE price point anyways. I have a 11, 9, and 15. No ESEE yet but I had a 4 and it was great. Eyeing another one lately.

I have been thru most the beckers, ontarios and some Esee and I too have an SP8 and its impressive. its the batooning champ. It also chops excellently. A lot of knife for the money.

Just out of curiosity, what is that last knife?

I'm not sure cause they weren't numbered at first, but I think I joined in on the second?

Sorry I just caught the question on this... I am not really sure what kind of knife the Truper is. My dad found it about 10 years ago and gave it to me. It will be headed out to Simple Man later on today :)

Looks like the squirts gone. Was going to claim it as I've yet to try anything leatherman and could use a decent multitool.

On the upside, all of my postings were claimed so I'll be posting another knife with a small story.

Anyone want a Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall Model FVS318? One of the rubber feet is missing (just a sticker) and I'm not positive if it's working. But it's an all metal housing, I have the AC Adapter and don't want to just throw in the trash.

If it works for you great. If not...we tried. Just hit me on PM and I'll get in the mail as soon as I can box it up and get to the post office.

Hey man, I have a combination set of a Winchester folding knife and a sturdy multitool that you are welcome to. It's no leatherman, but it gets the job done. Folder is super smooth too. Let me know!

No problem, I just thought it was an interesting looking knife.

I know I'm late to the party, and I don't have either, but I've always thought a candiru/bk16/machete combo would be good.

Also, could any more experienced members pm or email me the best place (online) to get esee and Becker? I would really appreciate it.

If anyone has another leatherman squirt or micra they wiuld like to pay forward I could really use one. Thanks, Jake

Superpaco - If you can't find your Micra the squirt is yours if you do find it I might send it to Egnar as he says he doesn't have any type of Leatherman or multifunction (basically the same situation I was in before Simpleman send me his Micra and Squirt.) Maybe take another look around and let me know. And my email is rygarrett@gmail

It helps to include your username in your email message so I can keep track. Thanks.

Guy didn't really know what he had, he thought he was overpricing it.

Geez, I never get lucky like that. Although I did find a Camillus Becker BK7 on closeout at Sportsmans Warehouse, when Camillus was going out of business. They had it priced at $50. So that was pretty good. But just last week, my buddy found an Endura 4 at the local pawn shop for $10. That was a very nice score.
