Ive had my Yuma since before Christmas and I have not touched the edge once. Its processed wood, notched, carved and feathered and its still sharp. It may not shave or cut paper but it cuts wood and cord and any other outdoor task just fine. I think sometimes we get too concerned that are edges arent always shaving sharp that we do more damage than good (I included myself because I am guilty of it too....just not my Yuma because I stink at sharpening and I dont want to mess it up:D)
Most of my edges aren't shaving sharp. Only on my little non-beaten on blades do they get THAT treatment. Most of my blades get a toothy working edge.

...

I think the state bird of Missouri is the skeeter. Those freaking things, will swipe a kid off the porch and drain them like an ex-wife!

I grew up in Missouri and always remember hearing that the skeeter was the state bird of Minnesota. I understand you can saddle and ride them up there...

I need to get a Yuma...

Maybe I'll get the KME system and start charging guys at work to sharpen their knives.

Holy cow. Headed home from a hog roast. I thought it was going to be a fairly intimate gathering, but when we pulled up (fashionably late), we were looking at 150-200 people easy. Bouncy slide for the kids. Commemorative cups. Live bluegrass.

Helluva night.

Right after we ate, this rig pulled in. At first, I thought it was tradewater.

must be a very good friend. There are only 3 dudes allowed to throw a leg over my 14. And +100 for wearing the gear, I have not been riding lately because south florida summer weather sucks big time, lots of rain, hi temps and humidity make for miserable rides.

My in-laws have a place down in Melbourne ;) I'll make the trek further south if you up that number to 4 dudes :D I totally miss riding. A co-worker of mine just got a new R1 and I'm beyond jealous. One day when the kids are a bit older (or if I win the lotto) I'll get another one.

I had a skeeter land on my arm tonight. I started to smack it, but ended up pulling three ticks off of it and letting it go. Poor bastard.

spend the $60 and get the diamond stones as well... holy royal tubgirl the beast makes SHORT work of reprofiling!

Yeah I'll spring for the diamond stones if I do, which is very likely.

It's been raining here a lot which means the area is just infested with mosquitoes right now. Half the time I swat them they're already tanked up pretty good on my blood and make a mess. Just my left hand has 4 bites. My head and neck are covered, it horrible.

Of course, every state (that has water) claims the mosquito as its state bird. In NH the state bird is the blackfly. Not real big, but vicious biters. You actually bleed a little (or more) from every bite, and I do mean bite. Been chased out of the woods on more than a couple occasions. And they're always trying to get in your nose, the little bastards. Here on the coast, we have greenheads, our local bird of prey. Nasty biters. Usually have to hit them twice - the slap just stuns them, then you have to give 'em the flip-flop. Crashed my windsurfer a few times because of greenheads; 'cause when one lands on your hand while sailing, you let go. better to get launched over the nose than get bit, IMO.

Check out this old dinosaur my father in law gave to me today. It's an old one mantle lantern. "J.C.Higgins", from Sears Roebuck. An old rust bucket, but she still has some life left in her. This is after the clean up, haha:

When the skeeters have balls bigger than a ladybug, it's time to move.
