Just bit the bullet and ordered a KME diamond kit. Even sprang for one-day shipping since it was only $4 and I'm leaving Thursday morning on vacation. Unfortunately the base was only available from a third party and expedited shipping would have been as much as the base itself so I think I'll order it to my friend's house where I'll be staying.

I'll also be needing the rounded diamond hone for recurve blades.

Awesome stuff Hoss. The KME does look pretty sweet.

Watching the first episode of the new show "Manhattan" Its about the Manhattan project. Interesting so far but i just started it.

Took the kiddo's up north boating again yesterday while the weather was nice. Today the weather is a little gloomy.

Great way to end a week from hell. My 4 year old was giving us some problems this week. He was not being a) supervised well enough by the wife and b) not given enough play options and boredom made way to trouble. Tuesday he decided he was going to paint the basement (not a big deal because its unfinished) but in the process of doing so he got the idea to get his 2 year old sister naked and paint her shoulders down completely white. It was primer, and he got it from our paint supplies then used his own wooden tools to pry the lid off. Got to give the little bugger credit, he's as smart as a whip. After this he then decided to see what would happen if you filled the bathtub up half way and chucked in 3 full rolls of toilet paper. By the time my wife noticed it was completely dissolved, she then decided to try to drain it out of the tub :( it clogged and guess who had to fix it. Snake, cheesecloth, and some draino later and it was draining like new again.
The icing on the cake... we give the kids scissors to craft with. They are only supposed to use them under supervision (of my wife) but, both the older two decided to take them into the back yard to trim the bushes with (not a big deal) but after they got board with the bushes... my son decided to give my daughter a hair cut.

helluva trek down south! I kinda dated a girl from Melbourne but she doesn't live there anymore. Never went to pick her up on the bike because she was scared to death by sportbikes. So I guess you did like the 14? It's a lovable beast all right, me and my bike are still in love after 6 years, longest relation I have had :D

Yep, I loved it. The was insane, and anything over 5000rpm pulled like mad. The front wheel would come up with tiny blips on the throttle, at the same time it was nice and smooth. It also handled like a much lighter and smaller bike when I threw it around corners. Nothing like doing the highway on-ramp at 90 with your kneepucks touching the ground to make you fall in love.

When I am in the market for a new bike (depending on funds available at the time) the 14 is high on my list of "usual suspects".

Hope it turns out as good as this one.

Only one way to find out. Going to be my first forum knife, first year I've felt like I've had the funds to pay for one.
You ROCK!! Thanks bro, just enabled it... Hopefully that works :D

Thanks bud!! .... Oh and im... world wood ....on skype if anyone ever wants to BS offline about anything.
I'm Kratzke31
Yeah, a lot of people think if you have a problem just throw pills at it and it will go away. I don't really believe that. I actually do better off pills than on.
So do I normally, but I do get hayfever bad. Also I think I'd do much better on a 26 hour day.

you've convinced me. I do not want children.

The BF 2014 slipjoint looks beautiful.

Lol Dynamic. Kids are great 80% of the time, the other 20% they will make you lose your mind. My wife still wants to have another (would make 4), I'm thinking of sneaking off and getting snipped lol.

Yeah, the Army liked to give you Ibuprofen for every single little thing. Because of that, I am battling 10+ ulcers. Happy happy joy joy! Lol. I cant eat plain noodles without heartburn. They tried to give me a anti-inflammatory the last time I went, but I would rather have the pain over internal bleeding.

Yea they did, we use to joke that the Army must get a royalty check from Ibuprofen LOL

I always jokingly referred to it as "vitamin M" (for Motrin-the name brand stuff, not the cheap generic)...they did love to hand out the 800 mg pills of that stuff.

TBL, that funny bud!! My daughter once gave my son a haircut...

Hoss, that show was pretty good you should watch it when you have the chance.

See... This I would be fine with. At the end of the day I could just shave his head and everything is fine. The last thing I want to do is have to shave my daughters head and make her look like Miley Cyrus :barf: I know she's only 2 and doesn't really need a hair cut to fix it... a little combing and everything looks o.k but damn man... a mullet! le mullet , yea old 10/80, its all business in the front BUT A PARTY IN THE BACK! just doesn't fit my princess ;)

Ok guys. Amanda and I want to take the plunge and get into hunting. Deer, turkey, rabbit, partridge, stuff like that.

What do you guys recommend for guns? I realize one gun won't be good for all the game animals mentioned above. I was thinking about buying one rifle and one shotgun.

We do not have much gun experience but learn quickly. The guns would have to be reliable, easy to maintain, and not super expensive.

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy

You actually could do it with one gun if you really wanted and were willing to wait for close range shots on the deer. A great and pretty inexpensive option would be either a Mossberg 500 or a Remington 870 Express. Both are generally available as a set with a 28" barrel for use on the smaller game you mention and a shorter (about 18" or 20") slug barrel that you can use with slugs or buckshot for up close deer hunting.

As far as a rifle, there are so many variables that I'd be hard pressed to give an intelligent recommendation without knowing more about your requirements and preferences. In general, I'd recommend a bolt action in a common cartridge. A Savage in .308 Win would be a good starting point to look at, but there are many other good choices. IMO, Savage does give you really good "bang for the buck" (pun intended).

Of what you plan on hunting, I agree with Greg. An 870 with slug and shot barrels will get you a long way. I also suggest a .22 because they are great for most small game, and just fun to shoot. I'd look into your local laws and what firearms can be used for what critter... There are many .22s to choose from and most of them are relatively inexpensive. The only problem is finding ammunition at the moment.

The Remington 870 is on my radar for sure. It seems like popular choice around here.

My Dad might hand me down a Winchester model 94 30 30 he has had since the 60s. I don't know anything about it. Is it any good? It is a shorter gun, but the woods are thick here and that might be a good thing. From what I hear from other hunters, there aren't many chances for long shots around here.

From what I've read and seen, more deer have been killed by a lever-action .30-30 than any other gun. That would be an excellent choice!

Edit: I'd also agree with CB that everyone should own a .22LR rifle, but there are issues with getting ammo right now.

Man these didnt come out very well AT ALL.... Gave them 2 chances to make a decent looking patch that was at least lined up right and they failed both times.... They didnt line it up well... they stretched the image so its harder to read the words.... Its blurry.... And the patches just feel CHEAP....

Well they WOULD of been cool anyways......

Mossberg 930 or 500 with combo barrels. 28" with 3 chokes and rifle slug barrel. I got an insane deal on a NIB 930 combo barrel for $360 shipped!!! Was a fluke/ F-up on somebody's part but so soooooo happy with it. A reliable semi- auto with two barrels for $360 can't be beat. 500 also good guns but don't care for overall fit and finish of it though not terrible. Would go polymer instead of the wood stock and forearm.Though 100% reliable and dirt cheap. Franchi Affinty i would also look into if you have a some more to spend or Berreta a300. Very happy with my Mossberg's though and there all i need to do it all at dirt cheap prices.

Yeah, everyone should own a .22.

Sorry for saying I couldn't get an Edge on my Yuma Todd, I screwed around with it long enough and got it just right, I'm very picky with my edge's, not too thin, or they won't feather right, not to thick, they won't cut right. :D It's just right ATM and it's out-cutting my thinner BK16 and feathering better than any other blade I own. :)
