If I pack my toothbrush now, how will I brush my teeth for the next two days?
I arrived at work this morning and I got a call on my cellphone. We're not supposed to take private calls at work, but this one was from (one of) my best friend(s). We never call each other, we only text, so I knew something was going on and I answered it.
He's in Italy on a holiday with his mom and dad. Last night, his dad knocked on his bedroom door, in panic. So he joined him into his parents room at the hotel. His mother didn't feel so good apparently that evening and went to the toilet, where she totally collapsed. Didn't move, didn't breathe. He performed CPR on her while they were waiting for the ambulance. The people from the ambulance also tried to save her for over an hour, but had to give up because she had already past away (probably immediately).
In October, she was gonna turn 51. That's way too young. She didn't have any medical history or anything. *Poof* and she was gone.
She was a beautiful woman and a very supportive mother towards my friend and his sister. I didn't know what to say at the phone, it's like I got knocked in the face with a heavy hammer. They live approx 500m away from me and I'm always at his place and he's often here, so I knew his mom very well. He's in Italy still, with his father. Both heartbroken. They said they won't be leaving without her, but of course it ain't so easy when someone passes away abroad.
Best I can do is be there for him when they get back, I assume. Damn this sucks, this sucks bad.
Sorry fellas, just had to vent here. RIP Nadine, you'll be missed.

I got my pack loaded up for GLIB. Pre-food and water it's 21.8 lbs.
Great Lakes Island Bug-Out. We are going to Bois Blanc Island in the Mackinaw Straight just north of the lower peninsula of Michigan. I leave tomorrow morning to meet up with Doc (AIG) and drive up. We are thinking we are going to meet up with the guys at Bark River, which I'm excited to see a couple of their knives in hand and see how I like them. I have a few I want to look at and figure out which I prefer. I have a RMD that I am taking with me (Doc is gonna help me clean it up and get it ready) and I am testing a TGLB, I am taking my BK-9 cause it's just... THE KING! and I'm taking my Laser Strike and Esee-4. I will have my BK-11 on my neck (as always!) and I have a 16 and 17 with me cause I KNOW how comfortable I am with them. What was GLIB again?
When do you go?

Maybe you should give it a good belt whipping and ground it for a month, that would stop it from going out!
