perfect gentleman's folder...for office setting

If you're set on getting a modern folder I'd recommend checking out the EnZo Birk 75. It's not too hard to find sites selling them for right around $100. It's a D2 scandi folder with a thumbstud/pocket clip/linerlock and you can get them in carbon fiber, micarta, G10, and curly birch(tougher to find). You can even buy it as a kit without scales so you can attach your own.

I recently got 1 in curly birch and I can't find a single flaw with the craftsmanship, and from all the reviews I read across multiple sites before buying it seems like that has been most peoples experience. They could easily get away with doubling the price and people would still feel like they're getting a bargain.

The Benhmade 707 Sequel ($140) and Spyderco Native5 G10 ($135) are two of my favorite small gentlemans knives. They're a little more than the designated price allowance.

I only carry a traditional in the office. I don't like a pocket clip with slacks. The GEC 99 wall street would be my choice for a +-3in blade. Single blade lock back, super thin and comes in at around $90-$100 if you stay away from Stag handles. Mine is a wharnecliff blade, but they come in other blade styles too

If you go with a vic sak forget alox as they don't allow the toothpick and tweezers.
You should also check out gec and case, traditional folders are the most gentlemanly there are.

BTW I just saw this new modern slipjoint by a company called quiet carry and it may be under 100$

I was going to mention everything that Abbazaba said. but not the dragonfly. It's non-threatening looking but I don't that it looks dressy. The sage is probably a little big but a good looking, "full-size EDC" knife. It seems to function above it's blade length, IMO, because of the if taller blade. The chaparral would probably fit nicely. I would also possibly add the cenofante or boker urban trapper.

Can't go wrong with a traditional type folder either for an office setting. I feel like an opinel is a knife I would even leave on the desk without the worry of it being viewed as a weapon.

The modern folder that really "does it" for me based purely on looks is the benchmade 940. Above your price range, and I don't even own one, but I like to look at it and handle it every time I'm at the Army Surplus store I purchase local from. The ergo's aren't right for me (struggle closing single handed and even cut myself in the shop once) but the thing just looks so damn good.

Some of the Japanese friction folders look pretty sexy too.

Mcusta Nami, beautifully crafted and slim knife that would look great in an office setting.
Small is just shy of 3", large (pictured) is 3.25", both can be had for right around $100.

Chaparral has been my go-to for the office for years.

I also picked up a Kiwi 4 on closeout recently, and it's surprised me, nice little change-up in the rotation.

Another vote for the Chaparral. It's hard to beat.

Spyderco Kiwi 4. Take off the clip if you like. Very slim knife along the lines of the Bradley Air. This is generally my choice if I am not carrying a traditional in this setting and I like the little GEC #14 Boys Knife for dressy carry.

The Boker Gent 2 (the Gent one is larger). Real ebony wood with a liner lock. The wood is dark brown and the clip is black (flat black not shiny). I think this knife is very elegant. Nice and light and thin but has more handle than the Swiss army knives shown bellow.

or

the Swiss Army Secretary or Bantam (the Bantam is a little thicker handle and has the bottle opener rather than a small blade)
same thing by Wenger brand Swiss Army is the Patriot the blade shape of the smaller blade is kind of cool . . . I just love all three of these.

I was using one of these just today. Once the edge is ground more shallow (you can easily do this on a coarse stone . . . even a medium stone) this thing is just a brilliant little cutting machine. No lock (I don’t really need locks on my knives) and it's not for making a shelter in the wilderness but for the City Slicker, which would be me, it is a very capable little pocket knife and just about the least obtrusive thing you will ever carry in your pocket. I would never be without one of these in the city.

Kershaw Leek. I own more than a dozen folders and for EDC the Leek is by far my favorite. Can't even tell it's in my pocket but plenty capable when needed. Pretty cheap as well.

If you go with a vic sak forget alox as they don't allow the toothpick and tweezers.

God I hope they change that one day. I love the look of the alox ones but I've never picked one up because the toothpick is one of the most used things on my SAK. I won't buy a knife I have no intention of carrying and without the toothpick I would always opt for 1 of my other SAK's over the alox.
