personal favorite knives under 50 bucks?

Knives I bought for under $50 that I really like; Kershaw: NRG, RAM, Groove, and Zing. The OD-1 and the Skyline are nice too but I don't care for the way they carry.

Fav sub-$50 folder: Spyderco Native (you can find a deal on them)...

UK Pen Knife

I know the UKPK isn't most people's favorite, and it makes no sense for me to carry, since I can legally carry a big locking folder, but I just love the ergonomics, and honestly, the appearance of my gray FRN combo edge UKPK. It is also perfect for most of my EDC tasks, where the hardest use it gets is cutting a zip tie on a plastic tote...

Well, I'll have to begin with a disclaimer that the knives in my "under $50" class were priced below $50 when I bought them, but may not necessarily be available for under $50 today.

The prime example of that is the EKA (Normark) Swede 92. I bought all of mine for under $25, but I haven't seen one for under $50 in a while. In fact, the Normark version of that knife hasn't been available in that branding for several years. However EKA is still making good folders -- like their folding fillet knife -- for under fifty bucks.

I have several Normark branded knives that I got for under $50, and every one of them was already out of production when I got it, however several of those same blades are available from the OEM manufacturer (Marttiini, Mora, Fiskars, etc.) for prices typically under $50.

So, let me generalize to save space: Mora, Marttiini, and other Scandinavian branded fixed blades. There are several models, shapes, and sizes available for under $50. Special mention goes to the Mora 2000 and its derivatives. It's a modern and very well thought-out blade.

Then there are the Buck Knives pieces: Vantage Select, Vantage Avid, 110 EcoLite, 112 EcoLite, standard Buck 110 (if you shop in the right store), I have them all, use them all, like them all. The whole line of classic gent's folders (301, 303, 501, and so on). Of those, the ones I use most are the 301 and 501. Oh, and the BuckLite and BuckLite III, basically the 112 and 110 done with lightweight handles. Them are good. I also have a Buck Short Revolution that is my constant companion in the truck. An unexpectedly good pair of Buck/Mayo imports (now out of production) are the Buck Cutback and Hilo (basically a large and small version of the same pattern). It's an all metal framelock design that's remarkably stout, sharp, and ergonomically happy. Got all of mine for under $40 each.

Opinel. Primarily the #8, but I also like the #7. Hell, I've got a #12 riding in the truck emergency box, and I paid less than $30 for it. When the circumstances are right, an Opinel is hard to beat.

Wenger Evo S10. Nice inexpensive SAK with locking main blade. How can you not love that?

Case Sod Busters. Case Medium Stockman. Immortal classics.

Kershaw Pack Rat. Kershaw Needs Work. Kershaw 3120 Black Gulch. Kershaw 3140 Wildcat Ridge. It should be said, however, that nearly all of my 3100 series knives are Japanese production. Jury is still out on whether I would like the latter day Chinese production.

Most, if not all of these, are in my EDC rotation or have assigned locations (glove box, center console, etc.) and get used on a regular basis.

I've probably left some out, but these are the "cheapies" that come to mind first.

I have many I love under $50, but this one stands out at the moment.
