No one has mentioned the Dozier Phat Bob, but the one I got from A G Russell
for 49.95 is a great value and very well made.
 
I agree with everyone that there are so many new knives under $50 to choose from. Some of my favorites are Case, Queen, THE Buck 110 (what a knife!), Moras, etc. But what I really like getting are used American made vintage knives, both fixed and folding, as they just have that certain something. Here are a few examples as seen in the photo below:
Case 6220 peanut in red bone - $48
Queen pen knife - $40
Case 6347 Stockman in red bone - $36
Western 062 folding hunter with sheath and stone - $34 (Cheap!!)
Quenn hunting knife with nice sheath - $41

From the ones I own definitely the Spyderco Tenacious. Actually it' s one of my favorite knives regardless of the price.

I only have two models under $50, and love them both. SAK Alox Cadet, and Case mini copperlock (one in Derlin/CV, one in bone/SS).
