I think it should stay the way it is. A true HOG will make his way to wherever it's happening. I'll be at blade this year eagerly awaiting the ceremony...
I don't want this new induction to cheapen the real induction.

Sorry guys this is just the way I feel, winners find a way.
Since I've been here I get the feeling that if the man didn't touch you himself, nobody's going to give you credit for it anyway.
Whatever is decided can it happen after all that can make it to this year's induction ceremony make it?
Perhaps some of you have missed the point that I implied in my earlier post so I'll spell it out. The people that can take the time and spend the $ to travel to Blade and/or Knob Creek get to not only enjoy the show, meet Jerry and crew and hang out & party with them but are also are further rewarded for their devotion and efforts with the opportunity to participate in a live version of a Ganza. Limited (very limited) numbers of all kinds of Busse blades, from old releases to new models, custom shop creations and rare variants are usually available for purchase to those present. Blades not seen for ages or before at all and not currently available anywhere else. Only if there are enough left-overs does Jerry consider offering the rest of us a chance at them with a post-show Ganza(aaaaaa). Blade itself has, in the past, been when and where new HOGs enjoy (endure ?) the induction ceremony and it is a small but significant part of this whole experience.
To date, the sole privilege afforded me for my 8+ years as a "net-HOG" on-line (honorary) inductee was the opportunity to buy (for a very nice price) a special HOG Edition ASH 1 when they came out. The catch being that I first had to buy at least one ASH 1 CG and one ASH 1 LE (or 2 ASH 1 LEs). Lets tot that up, shall we? The Cg + LE + HOG path cost me 297 + 497 + 167 + S/H for a total of $1005. WOO HOO, don't I feel special. I had already bought the CG and LE versions as released and jumped at the chance for the HOG version.
Certainly not an unhappy camper but my point is this. Those of you that go to the shows can have all those wonderful opportunities previously mentioned and who deservedly and proudly hold the title of HOG should view HOGdom for what it is: a largely symbolic memento of your actual, live in-person experiences at shows, with fellow HOGs and Jerry and crew. We who must settle for the on-line version can only imagine what we miss out on but we can be as interested in and informed about the knives and the shenannigans here at Jerry's asylum for INFImaniacs as those that travel and, in some cases, more so.
It should be no hide off of the snouts that some of you use to look down on on-line inductees to let us call ourselves HOGs. See HOGdom for what it is: an open declaration of a strong interest in Busse Combat in all of its manifestations, warts and all. (Yes, even you, Bravado.)

Wow that's a great idea. ..I've always thought I'd make it to a show but I'm cash poor because of Busse and kin. Count me in. ...please!
You do not have to own lots of Busses to be a hog. It's never been about who has what. It's always been about hanging with the group and making the pilgrimage to one of the events and not necessarily blade east. It cheapens being a hog when anyone can get it on line. That is my opinion.

That has always been my view of hogdom. The hanging out and appreciating the Blades. Both sides of this issue are valid. I'm too much of a noob here to say how things ought to be done. Jerry, if you're reading this, you lead.... We'll follow. No bad feelings....... No regrets.
. . . Well, I suppose that anything is possible!!!
As we prepare for the intro of the ASH 1 we find ourselves struggling to define the term HOG. . .
Being an inducted HOG will definitely have its benefits. . ..
Could it be that merely having an affection and small collection of Busse Blades makes you a HOG?
Could it be that everyone who owns at least one Busse Combat blade has a little bit of HOG in him or her?
Should we set parameters on the number or value of someone's collection in order to reach Hogdom?
Should there be several different levels of Hogdom such as "Piglet", "Oinker", "Alpha Boar", and "Old Guard HOG"???. . . .
Can I ever be drunk enough to figure this out on my own?
Oink at me Hogs. . . . tell me what you think!
I should be good and hammered by tomorrow night when I finally come to a decision. . . .
Let's drink!
