Petition for Large Sebenza "Sprint Runs"

I'd love to see sprint runs with exotic steels, but would like to see both large and small....plain handles are cool... ;)

Id love to see diff steels! I wud most def buy some if they did that!! Come on Superman!! Give us some Super steel!! :D

A sebenza with M390 or S90V is probably THE dream knife for alot of people on this forum, myself included. Unfortunately it's not going to happen. Chris has never shown an interest in improving steels and the only time steels have been changed is because the new steel was cheaper to grind/ manufacture.

It's unfortunate because so many people would buy a super steel sprint run that I doubt CRK could fill the demand.

But again it's nit going to happen.

But The day the sebenza's performance is equal to it's beauty would be an awesome one for knife lovers.

I'm also not very optimistic. Every time I hear from CRK they say they are busy enough as is. Yes I would want a properly heat treated S90V and M390 blade though. Don't you guys hate having a V6 in this Corvette?

Don't forget that CRK already does quasi- sprints with regard to other materials besides blade steel: Carbon fiber; StarBenza; Star-Tac; Tanto's; special dealer runs; ect. I also don't see them doing anything with the blade steels thought. Having more Damascus choices isn't unheard-of, and that would be interesting.

I would love to see a sprint run Sebenza but like many above have said :( not likely.

I am surprised that someone hasn't tried ( if anyone has, let see it!) to do this kind of thing in the aftermarket.

I can see no shortage of work there.

I see many people will like a high carbide steel, I am on the other side of the fence. I would like to see CPM-154.

That's what I consider guilding the lily. The Sebenza platform, and umnumzaan for that matter, are completely perfect aesthetically in my opinion. To me the dressed up version are less desirable.

A run with some high end steel like S90V would be the "be all end all" of folders for me. I would have a massive sell off and I would purchase as many of those bad boys as I could. It would be the perfect knife with the perfect *in my opinion* EDC steel. S90V holds and edge for a ridiculous amount of time, and it is not as hard to sharpen as people would like to think. If you can sharpen S30V, then you can sharpen S90V.

It would be my dream knife. I could quit the search.

I guess I just dont see the difference in terms of CRKs production of offering different styles/types of damascus (which they do offer) and offering super steels. It would be the same amount of work, except maybe grinding the blades with high carbide steels but seriously, people pay a lot of money for damascus, and a lot of those same people would pay equivalent prices for super steels. Me being one of them. Lets do it!

I think a determining factor is that companies such as this as well as Emerson and Strider occupy a niche market that keeps demand stable if not rising. The main reason why they choose not to adjust to meet the demands of a small group such as steel nuts and forumites is because the market for a Sebenza as is is more profitable. It's not even going out on a limb to say most of the changes they have made through out the years is to yield higher product and lower cost efficiency. S35VN anyone? Anyway, I've already said I would really want an S90V Sebenza, what more could I do?

And John, the search is never over for knife nuts!

:)

I wish they would just bring back the plain regular. The used ones are selling for a premium right now. It is obvious people are wanting them over the 21 or classic.
Why wouldn't they.... A stupid move doing away with them imo. If your a manufacture, and there is a demand, why not give the customers a supply.

A regular handle with a s90v blade = perfection!

In the mean time Im just holding out for an S90V Loscha... (though Im sure there are custom makers that could do an aftermarket blade... afterall why not? get a few made in several different steels)

was there ever an explanation as to why they stopped normal production of the regular profiles? I'd love to see sebenza in s90v or zdp-189

Umnumzaan.

The problem with something like an S90V sprint from the perspective of a company the size of CRK is probably that the time and cost necessary to get a new, high-end steel with different needs for production and heat treat, etc., into production and do it right would be huge.

Apparently, notwithstanding the opinions here, the demand was not sufficient.

Would there be room at the current facility to add more employees / equipment to get an new model into production? Might be a chance to grow the business.

CRK is the busiest they have ever been with a backlog for some models at over a year right now. With the introduction of the
ti-lock and they now having a full fixed blade and folder line Im sure they are over capacity. And Im not sure how much an
S90V model Sebenza would cost but I doubt the demand would be enough if they had to sell it at around $500.
