Petition for Large Sebenza "Sprint Runs"

I'll take one as long as I can get one in lefty variant. Maybe micarta with CPM-S90V or M4.

In for a sprint run with a much better steel!

I think this is where one has to ask. What defines a better steel? I see many people that want a S90V blade. But at what hardness? CRK treats their blades according to their design philosophy. I can hear some complaining about it even if CRK did do a sprint.

So even if there was a sprint with "better" steel, I think the steel won't be to everyone's satisfaction due to the design philosophy.

Don't get me wrong. I would like to see a sprint even though I know it is unlikely, this post is playing a bit of devils advocate

Another thread back from the Dead!

As much as I love my Sebenza's, my money is flowing to Spyderco now. Mule Teams in Super Steels and the wonderful Para 2's.
10 Spydies since Xmas. Chris this money could have been yours.

I trust Mr. Reeve! He makes a living making knives,he knows what steel is best for his knives!

This. To me this thread is synonymous with going to Ed Fowler and asking for a blade in D2 instead of 52100 because 'you know better'.

Bladeforums / Chris Reeve Knives: 75% complaints and comments about steel choice and hardness, 25% everything else. :D;):D:thumbup::thumbup:

Worden 352......we are all with you sir, but most have given up long ago on the idea of steel experiments coming from Chris and Co. Only one steel enters and leaves the CRK factory at the moment (with the exception of those Impofu's in 3V)

The conduct of succesful business merely consists in doing things in a very simple way, doing them regularly, and never neglecting to do them.

William Hesketh Lever

I think this applise to CRK's. I am in no way saying his business is smiple I would not want to try and run it. But he is very consistent and never neglects to do it all the time. He makes a great knife.

ide like to see CPM 3V in a quality folder like the 25!

I don’t understand how custom graphics, exotic inlays, and Damascus blades can be offered. When other steel choices are too difficult. CRK makes very nice and well thought out knives. The only problem is; there are examples of S35VN not performing at the level you would expect from such a great knife. I realize ease of maintenance and corrosion resistance was the deciding factor in steel selection. Dose anyone here have the old S30V sebenza? Is it any different than S35VN model when is comes to edge retention and sharpening?

I know a number of people that have owned and used CRK folders for years, I'm one of them. I have yet to hear any person that actually uses their knife complain about the performance.

I have seen people with brand new knives that are days, weeks or at best months old complaining about what ever they can cause problems with though......

CRK make a very high quality production knife, they are not a custom/hand made knife producer. If they open the doors on one thing they are opening the flood gates on a number of things. I say just let them do what they do and enjoy it. :)

I only have a couple Sebenzas but echo what Haze said. I use mine. No complaints from me about the steel choices.

I know from a cutting/slicing perspective it performs very well. CRK's S35VN performs suboptimal in contrast to other steels I've seen. The examples I'm talking about aren't in newer Sebenza users like you suggest, but with experienced users with multiple CRK knives. I never claimed CRK to be a custom producer, I just stated that other "custom" features offered aren't too hard to do. So why not fancy steels as well? Just to clarify, I think CRK knives are awesome knives, that perform as they were designed. I just think that, an M4,S90v,M390,etc sebenza would be really cool. I also understand it most likely won't ever happen, but it's still fun to think about.
