Petition for Large Sebenza "Sprint Runs"

I would also love to see highly wear resistant steels like S90V or M390 in a CRK folder but as has been pointed out we have all given up on that dream a long time ago. :p

I'm sure you can appreciate and understand the difference between machining a few patterns and anodising a few colours onto an already produced part and dealing with, sourcing, heat treating and generally getting to know a new steel. Not to mention the inevitable expectation of customers to be granted any wish they have from then on. :)

I know from a cutting/slicing perspective it performs very well. CRK's S35VN performs suboptimal in contrast to other steels I've seen. The examples I'm talking about aren't in newer Sebenza users like you suggest, but with experienced users with multiple CRK knives. I never claimed CRK to be a custom producer, I just stated that other "custom" features offered aren't too hard to do. So why not fancy steels as well? Just to clarify, I think CRK knives are awesome knives, that perform as they were designed. I just think that, an M4,S90v,M390,etc sebenza would be really cool. I also understand it most likely won't ever happen, but it's still fun to think about.

Your post is well written. I do understand why it isn't being done. I'm sure if CRK could do it, they would already be in production. When it comes to the Sebenza, it seems to be more about tolerances, finishes, anodizing, inlays, etc and a lot less about blade steel and edge retention. I think most of us carried an El Cheapo in the beginning stages of knife collecting and got along just fine using alphabet soup steels and the Wal-Mart $1 knife. Which makes the Sebenza look like a Lamborghini.

In my dreams I see a Large Sebenza with 6K Stellite. It would be amazing. Hand rubbed of course. Man, that would be a thing of beauty. Well, I will keep dreaming now.:)
