Photo of the new Mora Garberg full tang

It's possible the price will go down if you wait a bit (let the 1st generation of buyers foot the starting costs), but I just realized: I'm already balking at the price of the bushcraft black, so how much more so will it be for this model? Besides, when I bought the Robust when it first came out, another generation of better looking models came out.

I also think there are models out there like Helle and the Lapplander full tang knives (the 95) that have a better chance of avoiding buyer's remorse. The Lapplander 95 is much pricier, but there's a good argument to buy quality.

he help design pathfinder tops knife so many models to keep up with saw a hawkes hellion at local knife shop its a beast might b good in the bush but think it weight would take toll over time mora type knives is a cody lundin thing u forget u got it so light

So basically a full tang carbon steel 510.

Yep, that would be awesome. You hit the nail on the head about production and tooling, too. For a budget Garberg they would definitely need additional equipment for manufacturing the wooden scales, everything else should be more or less the same. Maybe once they produce enough Garbergs and the equipment pays off they can start thinking about doing variations of it...

Mora is making a mistake trying to sell it over $50. The reason mora is popular is it's inexpensive but amazing. Over fifty gets into the bk2 price range which is tested to be great.

I've made the suggestion to them that if they choose to keep chasing the $50+ market that it might make sense for them to introduce a separate line branding to denote their more premium models. "Mora" simply makes so many people think "budget" that it really contributes to the sticker shock when seeing these sorts of models vs. when other companies come out with offerings in the same price range with similar materials.

The tang sticking out of the end of the handle might hinder some woodworking tasks. Way too expensive.

Yep, same thought here.
I like the Companion better, more comfortable in use .
And for the price...
I also like the carbon over stainless, quite a bit.

The lower priced Mora's are also the preferred ones in performance.
That is my experience.

I like this knife for the things it doesn't have:
No stick/short tang
No serrations
No huge guards
No jimping
No Tactical look
No blade coating
No cheap plastic sheath
No mods required.

I honestly can't see anything about this knife I don't like. I gravitate more to stainless than carbon , so the steel is fine with me also.
The price might be a sore spot , but I'm thinking if I do get one it'll be good to go and no hassle on my part to make it right for me.

Looks like a great knife, but I don't understand why Canterbury is hyping a knife with a stainless blade. According to his priorities for a survival knife, stainless is out. He did grudgingly allow the Bushcraft Black despite its not being full-tang, to say nothing of the Mora Pathfinder (although that big a blade without a full tang makes no sense to me at all).

He did a full video review of the knife after shot show, explaining why. In typical Dave fashion, he's a bit wordy. But in the end I feel he did a fairly good job of explaining his viewpoint on the knife.

The short version is that he's not hyping it for his personal belt knife, but more as a more robust and full featured backup blade (which he's advocated for a while now). So he's not changed his preference for a ~5in full tang carbon steel knife for his "survival knife", which makes sense to me, as I had the very same question that you did before. But I feel his explanation makes sense.

He also stated there that he wasn't paid by Mora for his promotions.

I tried to link it to the more relevant portion of the video.
