These are double black but you’re right, you can see the layering a bit. I had a DEK with double black that seemed ever so slightly darker. Probably just the nature of micarta.

I think Nathan or Jo said some of the DEK double black scales they got were linen instead of canvas micarta. This is why they look darker.

Interesting, I've looked at every post till the end of the thread and did not see a single post/pic of the DEK2. I asked Grenock to post some but he's apparently more interested in working on his stand up comedy than posting pics.

That’s funny, I thought the same thing, this one was noticeably sharper than the others, Nathan must have got some new buffing compound.

Bought two sets of these anodized titanium fasteners. Tried a set on my double black FK2 and a set on this terotuff handled “back up” FK2. I think I like them better on this one.

Hmmm, the rate can vary. This small talk, does it generally have substance or, is it more like a house filling drone, like when the bearing goes bad on the tub of the washing machine? The second one would be cost prohibitive, cheaper just to get divorced at that point.
