Photos! Post your CPK photos here!

So, I know I have posted something similar in the past. That said, I just received a new DEK2 and was reminded just how much the micarta can change colors with time and use.

On the left, is the new set of OD Green micarta scales on the DEK2. On the right, is what I like to refer to as “OG” Green micarta on my trusted EDC1.

These are the same scale material.

Crazy, huh? The DEK2 is literally out of the box as of yesterday. The EDC1 is at least six years old and has seen almost daily carry and use since I received it, only starting to catch a break now and then once the first DEK1s came out. The EDC scales were never treated with anything to intentionally darken or patina them. They have, however, in those years seen varying amounts of sunlight, oxygen, sweat, blood, water, soap, fruit juices, plant saps, hydraulic fluid, oils, greases, fuels, dirt, salt water, and who knows what else.

So, if you have ever wondered how the OD green scales age, this is how it happens if you actually carry and use the knife a lot.
Hey could you post some more pics of the DEK2 showing the whole enchilada? Pretty please 😁

Received a set of wacky scales to boot. Don't have any other ebonite in the collection but I'm a fan.

Sorry brother, I was forced to sign a NDA to get this one, I am not allowed to post photos of it in it's entirety. I have had the document reviewed and it is, unfortunately, ironclad. Nathan must have had some shifty weasel like Fonedork Fonedork write it up.

^Noice Poku! I love when the “pretty blue” fasteners turn out looking more purple 👍

So them scales,,initially thought they were double black but am wondering if maybe you darkened them as I can faintly see that pretty,,not sure what its called,,,the circular spots/pattern you typically see on natural or regular black that CPK clearly makes an effort to make uniform on both sides (based on how near perfect many of my pieces look).

If it is double black Ive never noticed that faint pattern on it before and I think its pretty awesome 👍

Recently swapped out my double blacks for ebonite but ya cant really tell by lookin 😛

D dericdesmond Agreed! I really like that they are more purple than blue. I saw these fasteners on the TURD™ and thought they looked awesome on the double black.

These are double black but you’re right, you can see the layering a bit. I had a DEK with double black that seemed ever so slightly darker. Probably just the nature of micarta.

Now those Ebonite scales, those are black hole dark!
