Speaking about duplicates ....

They are not, just similar :)

Side note: the reason I like the FK1 so much, is less belly at the tip (think of cutting zip-ties), the butt comes in handy (think of beer bottle :) ), and it's a tougher knife with the lower sabre.

The FK2 is much better at peanut butter sandwiches.

I'll keep an eye out and try to give a shout if I see one pop up on the Exchange.
I appreciate the offer. That's very generous of you. Honestly, I've stopped looking because I'm not willing to pay the current aftermarket prices. My signature SDFK is plenty good for my purposes. I really appreciate the kind offer though. Thanks!

Aftermarket prices are whack.

That's an individual choice. BIGDORK BIGDORK and I were having a discussion about this on the phone the other day. Neither of us feel comfortable with the idea of gouging the members of our community with usurious prices. (Then again, I haven't sold a CPK.)

Of course, if someone contacts you and makes an offer up front, well, that's a different situation in my mind.

Personally, I refuse to pay overly inflated prices, regardless of what I'm buying.

I think it's fine for anyone to charge whatever they want. If the item isn't worth it, then the open market will make that apparent.

I can't fault anyone for asking a price they believe an item is worth or even testing the waters with a price they think is outlandish. Especially when it's an item they are reluctantly selling.

I'm not a fan of buying multiple items or duplicates with the intent of selling them at a raised price, but again, I believe the open market will determine if it's a fair price/practice or not.

Gouging seems like strong language, though I don't believe offense was meant and none was taken on my part. We're not talking about medication or necessities that people need to live.

Having said all that, the prices for HDFKs are beyond what I'm willing to pay, but I don't have a problem with the rule of supply and demand that we're seeing in effect. Personally, I think the SDFK and Signature SDFK are so good, there's not a reason to pay a premium for the HDFK. If you're a collector, which I'm not, maybe it makes sense.

Admittedly, I've never held or used the HDFK, so maybe I'm out of my depth here, but I'm not sure I would prefer it over the SDFK.🤔

HDFK, SDFK, let's call the whole thing off.

(You're well equipped with either, imho. I have a sig series SDFK and an HDFK, and I'd be over the moon with either.)

As to the above, I was referring to a personal conversation I had with Jim...not a general or pervasive perspective on the sellers on the Exchange in general, nor the denizens hereabouts, in particular. The term "gouge" was not intended as anything but a representation of prices I (or perhaps we), find inordinately high under the circumstances. It carries no other weight than that.

I think my fondness for most all of the folks here should be apparent. And if it's not, you'll be banned forthwith. ;)

🤣

It seems like yesterday I was mashing keys to get a fk1. As you can see, CPK won me over. I have a shiv and a dek 2&3 on preorders, and look forward to more to come. Bummed I missed a few…

Great collection, and more on the way 💯!!! You’ll absolutely love the DEK2. It feels just as versatile in hand as the original but quite a bit more stout and substantial .

I thought the same about prices ... until I let go of a couple extras I had put back that would probably never be needed (at what I payed for them) and then saw them flipped for double what I let someone have them for. Damned if you ... damned if you don't.

I'm gonna retire and see if I can get the mining rights to Nathan's creek.

How do you like that Mille Cuori Sagandavis Sagandavis ?
I'm not Sagandavis Sagandavis , but I have the same knife. It's TRCs M-1 XDP. I've had a mille as well and kept the M1. It is a wonderful, very well-made knife. It is similar in size to a DEK1. V4E steel and a DLC coating (which I love). It boasts one of the best grips besides the DEK or FK2, in my opinion. Feels great in the hand, and the large diamond texture is extremely grippy. Overall I love this knife a lot, and it is one of the very few I use often besides a CPK.

I struggle with this all the time. I don't make a habit of selling but sometimes interests change and you want to focus on other things. It hurts the conscience to sell for more than what I paid but I've done the same as you and watched my buyers almost immediately turn around and resell for some absurd amount.

It's definitely aptly put - damned if you do, damned if you don't.
