It has an almost indestructible feel to it, I'm looking forward to using it

🤣🤣

The SSDFK is great if you’re not planning on doing batoning. The swedge will cut into your baton much easier than the SDFK and ruin it much sooner (the baton).

If you’re not going to baton with it , you’re good to go, you’ll love it.

Congratulations on your 1st CPK 👍

Makes complete sense, I'm looking forward putting it to use, thanks for the comments!

I haven't had any issues batoning with my SSDFK unless the baton wasn't dry enough. Regardless, there's always another "baton" laying around.

You can also baton using a different method. Stab the knife into a log/round so the blade is standing vertically; then you lay the wood to be split down and feed it into the edge of the blade by pounding the bottom of the wood with a rock/hammer.

It's basically batoning in reverse; the knife is stationary and the wood is batoned into it, rather than the opposite (batoning the knife into the wood).
