Pics and first impressions of the Lahar

I've owned Lahar for 3 months already and I love it.
parts fit tight, no free play on the blade, the knife looks great.
VG10 is superb for holding edge.
however, IMO ergonomics of the knife would benefit if the G10 scales were convex not flat.

Looking at how nice the rounded handles on the custom Lahar are, I wouldn't mind seeing a version with some 3D machined G-10 scales (not the spiderweb pattern though, it needs something unique).

Because of this thread I ordered a Lahar from A.G.Russell (Whom Bess said they had in stock) on Monday and received it Thursday. I'll be honest and tell you this knife looks like it should cost WAYYYY more than it does. The 3 1/2 inch blade looks bigger than it is (VG10 steel) and the G10 handle is a great shape and has the tacky feel so it stays in your hand when wet.

I took the knife out of the box and removed the plastic bag from the outside of the knife. I opened it with the flipper and it came out with an authorotative click and locked in solid. There was a light coat of oil on the blade and it was dripping from the knife and I wiped it off with a soft cloth. The first impression....above all other impressions I might add...this knife is built like a bank vault...If you ran over this knife with a Peterbuilt you'd probably just hurt the tires. The knife opens quickly with a flipper or thumbstud with either hand and the blade looks like a work of art with the top and choil having grooves in it for better control. The blade is freakin scary sharp and i did the hair shaving thingy but the hairs screamed and jumped out of the way before the knife blade got there.

Over all I am EXTREMELY pleased and may buy another because of the value and style.....actually that is the best compliment I could make. If they are a rare commodity and I were you I would RUN..not walk...to the phone and place an order tonight. And concerning knives I'm a picky mother.....C'mon...It's around 70 bucks.....Geeze !!

I was really close to buying one since the first post of this thread, but then I realized I needed gas and food and bills to pay.

Mine came in the mail today. Beef is the word!!! This is one big, solid folder, and everything you guys said about it was true!;) Very nice Kershaw. I'm just sorry I waited this long to grab one.

Cheers,

my lahar arrived today. it's every positive thing said about it. it's replaced my benchmade afck as my favorite folder. great knife.

Well there was a mix-up when filling my knife order & my new Lahar didnt make it into my shipping box :(

I have contacted the sellers & am trying to work out the new arrangements they said they still have it there & it is the only one left so I asked them to keep it safe until we figure out how to get it here.

There were 3 new Keshaws in my order & I recieved 3 Kershaw knives but one was sent by mistake I didnt order it. I got a G-10 JYD & I told them I would buy it as well but I still want my Lahar.

I hope this still has a happy ending. I was way excited about getting it now I have to wait some more :grumpy: Oh well I guess thats life.
