Thought Id take the camera along on my ride today and show you guys some pics...Cause, who dont like pics? ;) It was 61 degrees, no wind. A nice day for a ride, but then again, they all are to me.:)

This is my everyday ride. I ride anywhere from 18-20miles a day 3+ times a week. It is an old railroad line thats been converted into a statewide biking trail. I ride this to keep the legs in shape, and to test out any new parts or adjustments I make to my bike before I hit the gnarly trails. There are no steep climbs, but there are inclines that last up to 5miles, nice fitness ride. Its a ball on the singlespeed. Im actually trying to get a ride/camp along the way thing planned for the summer. I have a few guys in so far. If anyone is gonna be in the area or wants to drive in and go, its gonna be fun. Some riding, camping, and skills practice. I also see alot of road bikes jamming on this trail, so if thats all ya got, never fear!!

Heres the pics from today. I didnt take many cause I dont stop but halfway when I turn around. This bridge I stopped at used to be a covered bridge a looong time ago. Its a cool spot to chill, about 10 miles out of town...

This is pretty much the type of view you see when riding. Nice woods to explore. Farther to the north is alot of cliffs, natural tunnels, and it runs along the Missouri river for awhile.

The happy steed.

The only thing that remains of the original bridge.

Oh, and heres some pron for ya. ;) This is pretty much what I carry for my rides. Other then a bike tool I keep in the bag, and a spare tube. My RA twisty, SAK, and a firesteel. This steel I got from a forum member who makes em. Its California Redwood Burl with a mosaic tube. Its very nice looking, and my favorite steel.

Hope you enjoyed em!! And, I hope some of you will consider coming in the summer!!!

Great pics J.
Hey off the subject but what part of Misery are you in? I've a lot of time here this year and my eyes are really opened to all the great things this state has to offer. I picked up at a couple of warehouses built in caves that were amazing.
I'm beginning to like this state!

Yeah, its neat, in the summer that stretch of trail is a canopy over the trail. Like a tree tunnel.

Right smack in central MO. Bout 60mi east of KC.

I bet those warehouses were cool. There is alot of cool caves in MO.

Do you mean you are in MO right now? Where bouts?

I know you aren't the biggest fan of MO, but you definitely have some great woods to play in. Except the trees after the bridge look like they are from Sleepy Hollow!

I love the scenery here man, just not most of the people. The gun laws aint too shabby either. ;)

You think those are eerie, you should see em at dusk. Looks creeepy. MO isnt the most physically fit state so the trail dont have much traffic on it. I volunteer mantaining this trail too.

Jake that looks like a cool trail you have there bro!

18 miles up hill on bike with no motor:eek:......... I know we have the same tastes in knives and .................women, but I guess it ends there:o

:D:D

looks like fun. it would be nice to be able to get out in the woods that often. by the way, do you happen to know how far away you are from the OK border?

if i am driving to oklahoma through missouri, once i pass the oklahoma border it still takes about an hour to get to my house (i am in tulsa). so it would be like a four hour trip unfortunatly.

Is that the Katy Trail?

I did the Biking Across Kansas ride a few years ago with some buddies from there. We started at the Colorado border and ended in Mulberry, Missouri and it was a fantastic trip! We were hoping to do a ride in MO this year, including the Katy Trail in part of the ride, but it didn't pan out (at least for me; I'm a little short on vacation time and a little worried about spending money on a trip with things the way they are...).

Spring has been slow arriving here in NY, but I think I may be able to ride to work tomorrow.

Good riding,

Sounds lke a good work out :)

Looks like it would be pretty fun to ride on with a tunnel effect in the summer.

J,

Thanks bro!

Yeah, but not if we plan in advance and you could get dropped at the border sometime. Charlieridge lives in Joplin, and we could hang out at his shop and forge stuff. We should try and do that sometime....

It is a good workout. I average between 12 and 14 mph, which is pretty good for a singlespeed on 26s!!

Man its a great stretch in the summer. Gets you out of the blazin sun for a bit.
