Yeah Andy, I love ridin with the boys, still got one too young to ride and keep up, but not too much longer and Iwill be ridin the trail 3 deep with the crew....You will love it.

Check Craigslist man, bet you come up with somethin...

Hey man, All it is, is a chain breaker, cassette socket and crank puller and bottom bracket tool. You ride a hardrock right? If you wanna do it yourself, I can let you borrow my tools, and send you my cell# to help you do it. It will save you some $$, and familiarize yourself with the process.

Look into it, and see what a local shop will charge, if its good, then go for it! However I will be glad to help if you need it.

I may take you up on that. I just got off the phone with a local shop and they quoted ~ $30-$80 for parts and around $50 for labor. They also mentioned, on my bike, that I may want to upgrade the crank.

I'd like to learn more about it anyway - I need pads on my disc brakes and have never messed with those brakes at all.

Thanks for posting this and getting my iterest sparked again.

I agree on the single chainring idea. I really don't like granny gearing my way up a hill in super-slo-motion. I'd rather hoist my bike onto my shoulder cyclocross style and get on with it. As for a big chainring, they're ok for long smooth downhills or for digging into a log when doing more technical stuff, but I'll never wear one out in a million years.

I wish there was a rock-solid three speed internal rear hub out there with a disc brake option. I'd be happy until my dying say with a setup like that.

Thanks for sharing your pics and be sure to show your new ride when you start getting parts.

Yeah last year I learned to climb steep stuff w/o the granny gear. I hardly ever use it now. Considered getting rid of the big ring, but that Enduro can handle some decent gravity/speed riding, so I haven't gotten rid of it yet. Who knows though!!
