No problamo bro, now get out there and ride!!!:thumbup:

I'm still down for a camp 'n' ride on the Katy Trail some time in April. I should have a few new toys to show off, too.

I am really looking forward to it man, its gonna be great. I was scopin out areas for campsites today, Ive found a few cool spots.

I was planning a bike trip on the Katy trail last year, by Washington . It never did pan out.

Theres always July.....;)

Stinging Nettles (Urtica dioica) or Wood Nettle (Laportea canadensis)???

Hey Jake,

Nice pictures. I'm thinking of getting a bike this year. Haven't had one for about 5 years.

Doc

You should Doc. Its a great way to get out and explore. I have a TON of cool memories on a bike.

Sweet looking bike! I'm hoping I can get one this spring/summer so I can it to the local trails and some sweet spots in the santa cruz hills with mike.

Dude, you live in the greatest mountain biking area in the country. Lucky dog.:o

Im gonna hopefully get to hit up some trails when im there in May.

Sweet SS man!! My only Speshy is a Dual Squishy '07 Enduro.

Thinking about building up a Surly Karate Monkey as an SS platform this/next year. Perfect compliment to the Enduro & Bontrager...

Great pics! Looks a lot like the C&O Canal we have here near me...

Would love to know what you have planned for the KM! I have ideas, but they all cost!!

Hey Jake…I got out for a ride myself.

I did more miles but probably got less exercise then you.

That looks like a good ride Jake. I've ridden a lot of the roads in your part of the state but never the Katy Trail. I have a rails to trails close to me but it's terrible, most of it is rocks the size of your fist.

Big Mike, nice ride. I took mine out for the first time last weekend.

Im going to build a Full rigid SS with a flip flop hub. Gonna use Misfit Psycles for most of the SS parts. Other then that, Im gonna scour the closeout section of Nashbar and DansComp for parts. Might actually go with eggbeater pedals on this one though.

I toyed with a 1x9 idea, but I think Im stickin with a SS untill my knees wont allow it anymore. :o I can say Ill never have more then one chainring on any bike. Might have a few gears on the back eventually, but Just dont have a need for any more then one up front. Just me though, I know some people will disagree.

Damn man, that sounds like a rough trail. This one is very good. There are some rough patches due to weather and horses allowed on some sections, but we do our best to keep the trail well maintained.

BTW if your serious, I totally suggest you read this

It will help you select gear ratios, and show you how to do alot of the conversion, and awnser alot of your questions. Its kinda required reading for singlespeeders.

Thanks bro - I'm serious about it, but will probably take it to a shop instead of doing it myself. Well, let me rephrase.... I'm going to price it to see what it'll take at the shop rather than buying all the tools myself.

I've been off my bike for while and think this will be the thing I need to get back on and have some fun.

Hey man, All it is, is a chain breaker, cassette socket and crank puller and bottom bracket tool. You ride a hardrock right? If you wanna do it yourself, I can let you borrow my tools, and send you my cell# to help you do it. It will save you some $$, and familiarize yourself with the process.

Look into it, and see what a local shop will charge, if its good, then go for it! However I will be glad to help if you need it.

Im gonna head out on another ride. Ill bring my camera along and snap some more pics to post in this thread..

I agree on the single chainring idea. I really don't like granny gearing my way up a hill in super-slo-motion. I'd rather hoist my bike onto my shoulder cyclocross style and get on with it. As for a big chainring, they're ok for long smooth downhills or for digging into a log when doing more technical stuff, but I'll never wear one out in a million years.

I wish there was a rock-solid three speed internal rear hub out there with a disc brake option. I'd be happy until my dying say with a setup like that.

Thanks for sharing your pics and be sure to show your new ride when you start getting parts.

Well said PB. I agree. Just dont see a need for em for my style of riding. Man, that would be sweet!!! Id love to rock a setup like that!!

Will do man, right now I dont have many parts for it, still goin over what exactly I wanna do...

I'm jealous. But!! I'm in the market for a bike now! Something good but used. My 6 year old just learned to ride, and I expect to do a lot of it.
