Right smack in central MO. Bout 60mi east of KC.

I bet those warehouses were cool. There is alot of cool caves in MO.

Do you mean you are in MO right now? Where bouts?
I'm in Mathews. I need to pick up in Sikeston first thing tomorrow to go to Maryland.
Yeah those warehouses were amazing.

If I ever need to bug out I'm heading for Missouri!:D

Next time I'm in the KC area I'm looking you up.

Neat stuff. I'm a bit bike challenged myself. The one time I decided to follow friends down a nasty hill was my last time. I bit my tongue on a bump, had nettles rip through my jacket, got slapped in the face by a thousand and two branches. Hell, good thing we never left the road :D

Looks like a great trail, J, my wife is dying to haul our camper there for the summer with all our bikes and gear. :D It might only take a few weeks to get there

That would be awesome. Definatly keep me posted if you do. Be cool to meet up.

hahaha, been there before!!!!!!!!

Yes, would absolutely be cool. We're down at least once a year to visit the grandparents, will have to make it work next time.

Hey J - is that a Hardrock? i can't really tell from the pics.

I've got a Hardrock Pro with Disc brakes that I've been thinking of converting to SS. Riding SS seems like it would be a blast. I don't have many hills around me so it wouldn't be to crazy to ride.

How do you like flat pedals in comparison to click-ins ?

Yep its an older hardrock... Or was. ;) Ive done ALOT of mods to it.

Dude, singlespeed is a blast. I say go for it. The best parts for singlespeed converion come from Misfit psycles IMO. Peter is a great guy. For a chain tensioner, go with a Surly singleator. I love zippin by those dudes makin a racket with all their noisy gears. Its awesome.

Platforms rule with a singlespeed IMO. Those are crank brothers platforms. The best Ive ever used.

That's exactly what I hear about SS. You enjoy the trail more because you spend less time trying to figure out what the heck gear you want to be in and just ride.

How hard is the conversion to do?

Oh - Where are the knife pics ? :)

Conversion is simple. Didnt take no time. I got creative with my crankset. I bought one from bike nashbar on closeout for 9 bucks and stripped off the chainrings to mount my new one on. Had to swap out the bottom bracket too so it would mate up with the cranks, which are square holed. Wasnt hard at all. Had to buy some tools, like a crank puller and cassette remover etc... but its a fun project.

Youve got it right man, its a blast. Some guys wont give up there gears, but when they are spinning 1000 rpm with their pedals going up climbs and moving .1 mph, and I jump off my bike and run it up the hill waaay faster, its hilarious.:D I dont care if your a gear guy or a SS guy, as long as your riding. But SS is more fun. :p It reminds me of ridin BMX when I was a wee lad. Something very nostalgic and primal about it.

Hey man, theres a knife pic in there for ya!! Just a Farmer, but I was thinkin of you guys!!!:D:thumbup:

BTW if your serious, I totally suggest you read this

It will help you select gear ratios, and show you how to do alot of the conversion, and awnser alot of your questions. Its kinda required reading for singlespeeders.

Hey, the more pics the better, thanks for posting!
Reminds me I need to start getting on my bike again though...

I'm still down for a camp 'n' ride on the Katy Trail some time in April. I should have a few new toys to show off, too.

I was planning a bike trip on the Katy trail last year, by Washington . It never did pan out.

Stinging Nettles (Urtica dioica) or Wood Nettle (Laportea canadensis)???

Hey Jake,

Nice pictures. I'm thinking of getting a bike this year. Haven't had one for about 5 years.
