Pit impressed with Mora !!!!

It's funny that you made this a sticky, Brian. I copied the URL with the idea of bringing it to the top, every once in a while. :D

So I guess I'm eating a little humble pie as those Mora's can really cut. I would stil not trust carrying one as my only fixed blade but with how little they weigh, they are perfect for tossing in the pack as a back-up blade or even to use for all those finer cutting tasks !!!;)

Better watch out there! :) I recently bought a Mora classic, and after testing it out a bit, came to the same conclusion; a great backup knife. Right... "a backup"... now I've ended up carrying the Mora as my neck knife, and the hand made puukko I've always carried, gets to ride in my backpack. And it's not because the Mora would outperform the puukko (it honestly doesnt), it's just that the Mora is good enough (actually great) for most tasks, and most importantly, I simply dont have to worry about it; it doesn't cost basically anything, and it's not unique in any way. Moras are sold at the local general store less than 3 miles from where I live, and the wood handle types cost less than 6 euros.

There are still tasks that I prefer to use the puukko for, but they are primarily carving etc, things that I do at the campsite... In there, it's no problem to get the puukko from the pack. While walking around, exploring, digging pitchy stumps and whatever, the Mora sees a lot of use.

Well there you go. I say no matter what else you carry add...and a Mora. You'll probably reach for that mora quite often. I get along fine with my Triflex Craftsman and a Tramontina machete. My SBT out cuts any of my mora's but I find myself resisting certain jobs at times so as not to mess it up when the Mora will get it done too and I'm not going to screw up a knife I can't afford to replace. I'm really sold on the Triflex Craftsman. They take a nicer edge than the SS SWAK's I've been using. In two weeks I'll be back in PA and I'm planning an order to Ragweed forge already. Mac

The 780 is my favorite as well, like the extra thickness, and the steel is very good.

(still waiting for the Mora on a beautiful hill shot, Maisy swimming in the water in the backround) :D

LOL, Pitdog making fuzz sticks in the dark is an image I won't be able to stop laughing about anytime soon. :D Nice going, guys, and two thumbs up for making this a sticky.

Those were my thoughts Dantor...:D Come on Pit, share the NW Island beauty with pictures of the Mora...we won't tease you, promise;)

I love the inexpensive little Mora for my kids, mostly my son. He has one that he packs and has been using another to learn how to sharpen a scandi blade...and if he screws it up, who cares? I have several others on standby.

I never thought I'd live to see the day. When will we see the Mora collection pics:D
