Please don't say I drank the coolaide...

CM gonna create, haters gonna hate, potaters gonna potate.

Time to let it go. Not sure why you're feeling roasty because CM did what he wanted to with his personal property, mang.

By the way, your analogy is poor, because LOTS of people modify high end cars. Incidentally, UGR and their two turbo monster Lambos are chuckling right now :D

Let me get this straight - I express surprise that someone would modify a very spendy name brand knife, and I'm told I should shut up and mind my business about what people do with their property.

But if someone posts that they chopped with their $60 Recon 1 or batoned their Gerber need to be 6 people told that they are abusing their knives?

As a forum, this behavior is schizophrenic. And disproportionate. I was genuinely surprised and answered the responses. Sorry and stuff.

I think the difference is all in the perception. It didn't come across as surprise.

I'm surprised that with the amount of posts you have, you are surprised when getting flamed on a forum.your comments were ok,just others saw a lamb and you let them lead you to slaughter. Cheer up,it only lasts awhile.

In reading other posts by him I'd say the way he comes across isn't limited to this thread. YMMV.

Only to you, Mastermind.

I read this thread all the way through. I've followed it for a while too then read it through again once more.

I was going to jump in and say something on his behalf, along the lines of "how does one properly portray 'surprise' in a typed message".

I'm really glad I didn't and waited.

Especially after this comment^.

True colors starting to show?

Like sand through the hourglass, these are the days of our knives...

No. Craytab is my personal drive by troll and psychologist. He posts off topic put downs about me all the time, which I am tired of.

Sorry about my question, sorry I tried to explain my question, sorry I misunderstood that this was already done and sorry I let Craytab crawl under my skin to the point where I scratch.

I think its just because you haven't seen CM antics. Or people just forget the first time they seen a crazy ass m@@##$(@ CM post. Ultimately you give him props for doing what he wants bc he's particular.

I say it's a push I wouldn't be so hard in the guy for acting surprised.

No, this behavior is multifaceted. Because a forum by definition is not a thing in itself. It is a mix of many persons opinions. If all of us thought alike, no one would come here anymore.

Certainly. But it doesn't explain why the same people who are upset by "telling someone what to do with their knife" aren't upset by the exact same behavior in a different thread about a different knife.

It really seems like the inanimate objects we discuss dictate the behavior, not the situation or people having the discussion. If it was rude of me to point out that modifying an expensive knife might have a downside, it is equally rude for anyone else to tell anyone what to do with their knives.

OR, we can all make our comments on regrinds, chopping, batoning, buying Chinese or whatever and our comments can be respected as our right to an opinion.

This is a big forum, but the behaviors I mentioned are inconsistent by even the same individuals. There wouldn't be so much acrimony on this particular forum if there was some sort of consistency encouraged. But people here are allowed to make and react pretty rudely to statements about knives.

The alternative is the Land of the Lotos Eaters, which Odysseus fled in fear of being condemned to life in la-la land.

H.L.Mencken said that in every human situation, there is a solution which is simple, obvious, and wrong. Without some degree of self-contradiction, we become inellectually constipated.

And now, I strongly suggest, we should return to the original topic, and stop discussing the discussion.

Some folks are just weirdos! :)
