Are you guys serious about buying a knife like that, then regrinding it and putting zip ties on it?

I know, right? CM should have asked you first before doing whatever he wanted to do with his property.
Nice! Now it'll wave open AND actually cut stuff! Seriously, looks like the plan is coming together.
No... it won't "wave" open... but it will deploy upon draw with much clack.

He can do whatever he wants. I can buy a Ferrari and immediately replace the engine with one out of a Corvette, but it might also earn some commentary.
And I really thought it might have been a joke. You'd think $850 would buy exactly the knife you're looking for.

How is buying an expensive knife and having it reground by an expert craftsman the same as replacing the engine of an Italian dream car with one from a far inferior vehicle? Please explain this analogy.
Calling what cm does a joke is a joke.
Because modifying anything on a dream car is bizarre. It's a dream car! If you want a $500,000 car with a V8, why would you buy a V12 Ferrari in the first place.
Why is a knife that isn't ground the way you want or opens the way you want a dream knife? Couldn't a custom maker build a D2 Titanium knife exactly the way you want for less than $850?
Either way, this knife is arguably no longer a Medford.

All this knife - or any knife - does is cut stuff. Putting a zip tie on an $850 knife is no more wacky than buying an $850 knife to begin with. Both are pretty darn kooky. What I'm saying is that once you go above the price of an Endura (or whatever), it is no longer about just cutting stuff. Its about distracting your brain from the demons that live in there. Its about feeling awesome. And grinding and zipping a spendy knife make CM feel totally awesome.
Unless you believe that high end knives have a collector market value as well.
But yeah, everyone can do what they want (unless it involves Ganzo or Sanrenmu).

And I didn't say what CM did was a joke. I was asking if the discussion about putting zipties on and regrinding a collectible high end knife was serious or not. I didn't see there was a second page when I posted.
