Yes, I know the thread was old and that it looks like he hasn't been on the forums in a while, I was just giving him my advice if he ever came back to it.
Also, after reading this entire thread I don't believe his judgement was bad except for not initially telling his mom about the knife (although he had reason to believe he didn't need to). It sounds like you are saying that his judgement should warrant whether or not I comment; he's asking for advice so I'm going to give him my advice and in it say whether I think he is right or wrong instead of leaving him cold.
