Photos Pocket Fixed Blades

Armis Knife and Tool makes a paring knife pocket sheath.

Delta sheaths makes leather pocket sheaths. I have’t tried them though.

These are more universal fit sheaths.

Should be on the way here soon from Jarrett Fleming Jarrett Fleming . Wharncliffe features a 2.5" blade, the EDK-1 a 3" blade. Both MagnaCut.

It fit my Bark River Necker with a little heat gun adjustment. Because it is a universal sheath you can wrap tape around the handle to adjust fit or use a heat gun.
Does the knife actually click in or just kind of hold it snugly?

I've been brainstorming kydex pocket sheaths but trying to figure out a good way to make them for one off knives is giving me fits. If I was building them for knives that shared handle shapes, it would be much easier but no 2 of my knives can swap kydex sheaths and work as well as they should.

It is friction fit. It uses a piece of velcro on the inside to add some grip. I used a blow dryer to heat the kydex and squeeze it tighter. It does not click in.

Otherwise you have find a feature on the knife to catch with an indentation on the kydex. This knife has a wrapped handle.

On this knife, they put a groove in the handle for the groove in kydex to click into.

I made a few of these little pocket fixies. Called Zippers, they are an outstanding all around EDC fixed blade. 2.2" blade with an overall length of ~5 inches. Ground from .095 CPM S90V heat treated to 61-62 HRC. Handles are a limited run of US made canvas micarta from Norples in a color called Sage Green (looks brownish green...almost ranger green) with red G10 liners. I have been carrying one in my pocket for the past week and the shape lends itself to almost any small cutting task.

That looks interesting and very useful. Comfortable to carry all the time, and big enough for most daily cutting tasks.

I decided to carry my old Dawson fixed that they used to call the "Pocket Knife." The original sheath used to have a flap of kydex that was folded over and pinched a bit to form a simple pocket clip. I decided to remove that and add an IWB clip that is a bit more sleek and has better retention.

To be perfectly honest, I never really caught the bug to carry a fixed blade in my pocket. In my mind, a pocket knife should fold and a fixed knife should be affixed to a waistband, boot, or on a pack. I find that a folder is just more discreet and convenient to carry in the pocket.

All that said, I like having the option to creatively carry a fixed blade and I enjoy seeing all of the nifty knives and sheaths posted in this thread.

I agree with this. I do carry small fixed blades but I use a sheath designed without clips, just the tip of the handle shows from the pocket, I'll try to get some pics.

I wear khakis a lot and even the smooth clips on folders start to eat at the pockets over time, those dcc clips and such absolutely shred me pants :(

When I tried small fixed knives before, I tried neck, inside the waistband, vertical and horizontal belt carry. The most comfortable and accessible was horizontal belt carry, but it stuck out from the belt. So my edc was a folder clipped to the right front pocket for years. When I found a fixed blade pocket sheath that could clip in the same spot, I made the switch.image.jpg
