Recommendation? Pocket slip, or let it scuff?

Pocket knives get the dedicated RFP. The only exception is dress slacks and that is very, very rare.

I carry my 2006 Case Red bone Barlow in a slip I made from a recycled blue jeans coin pocket!

The rest I just let them go.

I just wait for The One Scratch that is like crossing a line in the sand. Once we're past it, we're past it, so scratch away. Fifty percent of the time that's when it starts to get really interesting anyway, far as I'm concerned.

Ive tried a slip a few times,I find the added step to remove the knife a hassle. I always go back to just dropping the bare knife in my left front pocket. I was working about 18 ft up on a ladder this weekend hanging a light and was carrying a knife in a slip. It was a real pain trying to get the knife out of my pocket then out of the slip that high up and having only one free hand.

I totally agree I get really annoyed in that situation .
Someone needs to invent a pocket knife that can be opened one handed and that clips in your pocket so you dont have to fumble around for it .
Whoever comes up with a workable knife like that will make millions .

Hey now theres a idea LOL :D

never thought heard of a pocket sheath till about a year ago, so no. i dont carry an high $ pocket knife ( as i said before an western 854 for a long time) so it goes into the pocket unprotected. in that pocket you could find a zippo, finishing nail, sheet rock screw, drill bit, rarely coins, .......................

Michael @ Hitch and Timber makes a great slip. Just added this one for my Dogleg Jack. Heavy 8 oz. It's exactly what I was after. The cutout makes drawing the knife easier. Also easy to re-insert your knife while still in the pocket.

Most of my knives just are dropped in my RF pocket with my keys. Sure they develop "pocket patina" but that's part of the use process. I do have a few that I use a slip but that is because they have some value that I want to preserve. I do find the extra step of pulling out the knife and tucking the slip back in my pocket a little tiresome but not too bad. Here's my black alox Vic Pioneer that has seen some serious use and wear due to being in my pocket with my truck and SUV keys. Adds character :)
