• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Let me run this by you all as well. I was thinking about putting some kind of knurling on the flats of the haft for better grip, but it sounds like a lot of work. What if I got a piece of gutter screen with a diamond pattern and heated it up? Couldn't I just burn that diamond knurling into the handle with that setup?

Knurling the handle......sounds like blisters in the making to me.
The wire won't heat evenly or stay hot enough long enough to burn deep enough into the handle. It might make a nice design though. As far as a better grip leather wrapping works well.

It won't work for the reasons noted.
Treat the handle with beeswax for a greatly enhanced grip. Rub it in/on, then heat it until it melts and polish it.

I used a mixture of bees wax turpentine and linseed oil on my poll axe to seal it. The bees wax does improve the grip.
