Poor man's Sebenza?

Watch for a Buck Mayo TNT on the bay. I "stole" mine for $91 a year ago. It was used but very very clean and almost new. I wouldn't pay what the new ones are going for $200 but I am happy with it for the price. It is well made and very lite weight.

why is wildjim banned? I didn't notice him being obnoxious in any thread (not that I read all threads)?
I don't have a problem with him liking and promoting the sanrenmu. If promoting the Bradley Alias is ok, then promoting the sanrenmu should be acceptable too.
(I don't really care for the 710 btw, but I am interested in a few of their other, less derivative designs)

Yes, Bradley Alias to me is also a knock off. May be wildjim was banned on the suspicion of working for Sanrenmu knives by promoting them and offering links where they can be purchased.

To me it seemed he was simply very enthusiastic in sharing what he thinks is useful info - and someone did indeed ask where the srms can be bought.
In the past, when questions on affordable EDCs came up I regularly offered a link to CDNN's Browning Ice Storm (a relabeled Mcusta at an incredible price), and that was simply my love to share useful information.

+1 on the 635 Mini-Skirmish. Best Ti handle knife I have under $200 and better than the Alias 2 IMHO. Only problem is that the blade bumps the last offset and causes a minor ding in the edge until the first sharpening. Don't squeeze it at all when closed.:grumpy:

That or pull out yout dremel and cut a little more relief on that offset where the blade comes close to hitting.

> It was spam, and Chinese knock-off spam, at that. That garbage is best taken out.

I'm not convinced. Did anyone ask wildjim? He seemed to me just overly enthusiastic.
With the same reasoning, the many posts in the not so distant past that answered every advise question with "just buy a sebenza." could be seen as spam as well.

This is not the only thread where Wildjim has been really enthusiastic about sanrenmu and liberally sprinkling links to stores. While Sanrenmu 710 is not 100% identical to Sebenza, other Sanrenmu offerings are also very, very close copy of other well known brands. People are typically willing to give a maker (like Sanrenmu) the benefit of the doubt when they have 1 look-alike model, but not when they have an entire line of knock-offs.

There is no such thing as a "poor man's Sebenza".

It is either a Sebenza or it is not!

Often imitated, but never duplicated!

Sure there are several good framelocks with titanium handles, but they are not Sebenzas.

If you don't need the frame lock try a Buck Vantage pro. Paul Bos s30v, g10 for $50 and made in America.

It seems to me that all Sebenzas are poor mans Sebenzas because after you pony up the $400 CRK charges for one, you'll be poor!;)

So true!

You are really poor after you buy the first one and then get another and so on!

Sorry, but there is no reason to get that excited about some lame, knock-off Sebenza unless you have a spammy agenda. Also, it's not the first time he's done it.

Last time I was in Shanghai, I purchased a few Sanmenru's. I thought they were well built and the ones I purchased were not "knockoffs".
I didn't think Wildjim was trying to spam. I think he was just stating his point. I for one am disappointed he was banned.
As far as a Sebenza, you either think they're a great knife, or you believe they are overpriced.

I have two 710s coming and, yeah I'm kinda anxious to get them. So that makes me a spammer I guess? Sounds like a lot of horse crap to me.

I have no problems with the Sebenza nor any of you who are willing to pay $450 for one. I am not one of those people willing to spend that much money on a pocket knife.

I can't agree with you more....
