Poor man's Sebenza?

With all due respect to CRK's products, not many of us have bought a great knife and said 'this is the one, I think I'll stop buying knives from now on'.....Go with the knife that is right for your budget. Enjoy it and when you are ready to move on, go for the next one!

My sentiments exactly.

I’ve bought 6 more mid-range folders since I bought a CRK last year.

Reeves are nice, but they aren’t all that.

The suggestions for an Alias 1, BM Skirmish and Tops CQT Thunderhawk are right on the money.

Interesting.... A couple years back Fenix , the makers of the pocketlights , had a 'free knife' promo if you bought a certain model or two of Fenix light, which I did , it came with a little knife that looked like a Buck/Strider knockoff , to the T... I saw that exact knife on the saranmu page.
To be honest and fair it is not a bad little knife considering it was free , but come on , show a little originality !!

As for a poor mans crk ? CRKT S-2 is the cheapest I think , if you can still find them. Also the M-16 in Ti is still very available and are solid knives for the money.

THAT said , if you want the real thing to show off to your buddies , etc... then ya gotta buy the real thing :D

I think all of the main choices have already been said, but I always considered the 552 Ritter Grip to be a "poor man's Sebenza." :D

My CE as pictured and bought new at manufacturers site costed exactly 175$

I have yet to see a CE (level 1) for under $270, and the prices only go up from there, as the levels go up. Can you post a link, from anywhere, showing that the CE is available for the price of $175, because I've never seen it available that low?;)

I would get a real sebenza. Owning a couple dozen they impress me. However, I bought a mini skirmish recently, and it looks better to me than the sebbie and it locks up just as good as one. So if you like the skirmish you can get it, i think they are pretty cheap 160.00 maybe? I just bought mine at full price about 215 or close to it.

I'm not sure if posting links isn't against the rules but you may find it on Lighthound's site for 175$ and True North Knives' site for 199$. Maybe you're talking about RRF folder? This is Combat Elite TA (Tactical Elite) Level 1 - bigger but cheaper of the two CE folders.

My mistake, Lukaszki. I confused the model of knife you were talking about and got my information wrong. My apologies, sir!:o

I've looked at several Sebenza's at local kniferies... OK, I was drooling heavily... they are gorgeous, and the fit and finish was superb. But my BM Mini-Rukus snicks open even more smoothly, and I doubt the Sebenza would cut any better. So I decided, not now... a bit regretfully.

If it makes you feel any better I have a small seb sitting in my desk drawer and a large rukus in my pocket, you can always sell the rukus and get a seb, sorry you regret it. After a while they are "just another knife" though.:)

Bradley alias was the most I could afford here. I did look up the "sanrenmu" website. Even if they aren't making exact knockoffs, you can see a lot of very familiar-looking (stolen) designs/features - CR's, benchmades, Buck, Cold steel, various others.

The only poor mans seb I know about is the Benchmade Ritter Griptilian though it is a bit different from what you are looking for. Others have mentioned more to your liking probably but the Ritter is a great knife for the price.
