Potential Thief on Ebay - SCAM

You don't pull the trigger on a "potential thief" on the street just because he's riding a bike that looks like it might be yours.

Regardless of his or her behavior here, at worst all that yardoc_treasures did, on Ebay, is paraphrase parts of Hillbillenigma's listing. Paraphrase, not plagarise. I'd be pissed too if it were me and I was called a thief over such nonsense.

Gentlebeings, it sometimes happens that a thief posts an auction pasting in pictures and descriptions that he found in some other auction or somewhere else on the web because he does not have the knife or other merchandise he is offering for sale. When the auction ends and he gets paid he takes the money and runs.

That happens frequently enough that when people see an auction that seems to be one of those it is customary to warn others about the potential scam.

Sometimes, as in this case, it turns out the seller isn't pulling that kind of scam after all.

This thread has, however, given the seller an opportunity to show his character that he has taken full advantage of.

.

Yep, that was apparent from the start.

Maybe since you all now know it wasn't a scam people will think a little harder before starting a scam alert thread on an innocent person.

Next time Just start the thread " Someone on ebay MAY have stolen some of my precious words"

Well, the text WAS copied. That's not really open for debate. Even if the words and formatting were a coincidence (right), HBE has an odd capitalization scheme, that would not have been mirrored by someone else were it not copied and pasted.

As for the "MAY have been a scam" part. HBE did say "Potential". He saw something that could have been a scam, and informed the community as best he could. In this case, it turned out not to be a scam, but as far as he knew, it could have went either way. Hence "Potential".

What does it say about a person's integrity when they go around stealing another's E-bay posting?

Surely no crime but to also declare no foul???????

That posting may have no value except to the original owner, therefore it has value.

Laziness in this case equals a breach of integrity and an apology is in order but not from the starter of this thread.
