Thanks, trade. If you want to send me a little of the pine tar, I'll take it.
The grill has a side burner, and that's where I tend to do such projects (dyeing, melting, etc.)
Maybe I should throw some Hoppes #9 in it for aroma. :D

It's on the way.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Son stopped by last night, as he had to work today, and got me a sleeping mat I've been wanting for backpacking. Extra large, don't ya know. Wife got me a nice t-shirt, a flask, and a custom slingshot that still hasn't come in yet, haha. We're getting to go for a ride here in a bit. Wanted to have a fire tonight, but it's just too wet.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear me-eee, happy birthday to meeeee. :D

Won't be long before you need a tactical stroller, Dubz. You might need bigger tubing though. :p Happy birthday.

Haha. I need to talk to trade. I hear there's a dealership in Barlow.

Hey, Happy Birthday Warrior!

I had a very pleasant day outside, Temps stayed in the 20s and I ended up chopping a lot of wood. I was really happy to have my SFA with me.

The BK-9 is a very fine tool, but compared to the SFA in a (mild, for my area) winter enviroment, it is nothing.

This is the result of a chop-off between the SFA (on the right) and the BK-9 (on the left). The wood is oak, a dead standing tree that I took down today. It was very very hard, and the little water that was still in it was frozen. I gave the BK-9 40 chops and the SFA 30, to compensate for the fact that I'm a lot better with an axe than with a knife.

Two more detail shots. Mini Bic lighter for scale.

You can clearly see the much deeper cuts the axe makes.

This is a size comparison between the two. The SFA weighs pretty much twice as much as the BK-9.

Told ya it would be unfair to compare the two :D

I'm going to go with this one and work a sip of bourbon in between Black & Tans.

woo! thanks for the pix!
I was chopping on a downed tree with my plumb and HB for funsies just a few minutes ago.
How do you like the SFA in general? Sure looks effective, and packable.

Love it. The haft could be a bit thicker, I found it hard to hold sometimes. But then again, I wasn't wearing gloves and it was fairly cold. All in all, I have to say I've never seen something that effective in such a small package. While limbing, I went through 1" branches in one swing, and wrist-sized branches go in about 6-8 swings. On that hard oak wood, it went through faster than my little sierra folding saw.

Some well placed jute whipping is nice on that size axe.

trade, here's the bag I want to treat. Will a pound of beeswax do this bag AND a Carhartt jacket?
