Ill take a few of your pounds. last time i weighed myself was months ago but i was at about 150 then, pretty sure its about the same still. Id like to be at 165lbs. My metabolism doesnt want to let me get there though despite eating everything i see LMAO
Your welcome to them

My weight-loss convinced me that it's damned simple. Beyond any conditions that inhibit metabolism (thyroid issues, for instance), you just have to burn more than you take in. Period. My Fitness Pal is mainly about caloric intake. I can eat whatever I want, but I'm beholden to a daily limit. So I've learned to eat where the "good" calories are and pace my eating so that I don't use everything up at breakfast (which is how I used to eat).

My vacation pictures from early in the summer put me over the edge, and I was impressed by the progress a colleague was making on My Fitness Pal.
Something had to change for me too. MFP gave me an easy way to document intake. The database contains a buttload of information, much of which can be logged by scanning bar codes. In addition, C25K gave me a goal and a means for burning calories. I knew I was going to have to run 3+ miles at the end of my 8-week training period. Without dying.

I worked at it, and I am going to continue to work at it. I ran a five-miler yesterday way below my time goal. In the spring, I'll register for a 10K or two, and I'm thinking seriously about a half-marathon at the end of April. I have to make the decision and commit to the training by middle of next month.
That's what it is, I guess. I need to start running.

I can't figure out why I'm gaining weight. I don't eat that much, then I go to Judo and sometimes Jujitsu but it just doesnt burn it off..

I can only figure that I used to be very extremely active/sportif and in the last couple of years it has just dropped of to almost nothing (an hour of Judo twice a week) And it just doesnt cut it.

The only time I dropped any weight was from running but I'm not just going to jog down the street by myself. I plan on trying the track at the park soon.

I don't think there's many barcodes to scan as I've just recently switched to a chicken diet to try to be healthier. Meaning I cook evertything from scratch with raw chicken.

Chicken soup, stew, c and dumplings, rice, jambalaya. Throw in some kale greens and rice w/squash all stewed down.

That's only 4 ingredients other than seasonings. Chicken, rice, kale, butter, flour, squash. OK it was 6..

Who's running the beckerhead thread?

I submitted my info but am not at all sure I did it right. I entered the numbers to there best of my ability. If y'all run a scan to check; I more than amply qualify (I believe?)

Seriously bro, I hope that bmbeals up, can adult onset diabetes go away if you get healthy?

I'm on my way to some serious trouble.

While Guyon has been dropping the pound, I've let over 80lbs sneak up on Me in the last couple of years... thats almost the same ad piggybacking my girlfriend around 24hrs a day, everyday. My body hurts because of it. I now weigh in at over 260 at 5'11"

Something has to change and soon

My Doc said there is a possibility that it can be controlled by a certain diet but it cannot be cured. It never goes away.

Moose handles that thread, but he's a busy vampire these days. He'll get to it though.

CUMA battle cleaver.

Bighoss you rock!! Thanks for showing that

I think im getting that!!! Under 50 for over 9 inches of 5160... REALLY?????

It reminds me of the SP8 a little, but with g10 handles so that would be sweet. I dont care for how it looks much but for that price, And that size of blade..... It would make a good beater.

Yeah for $50 it looks pretty good. Ideally the grind would be higher and there'd be less of an angle on the handle. But it's still pretty cool.

I ordered the 9 and the 2 at the same time for my first. It was then that the Becker angels knew I was one of a very select few that would be worthy to carry the message far and wide across the land.
After my 9 arrived, I had been lurking around here long enough to think I should have a 2 as well....had already checked prices, was looking on eprey for stuff...didn't know anything about the different versions, what to look for in a used one, nothing. I jumped on one anyway, and totally lucked into a reasonably good deal on a neused Camillus 2, even though I didn't really know that Camillus had even made them. When I got it, it was used enough that I stripped it before my 9, beat on it more than my new 9 and in general treated it the way I would eventually come to treat my 9. In many ways, the 2 was my "gateway" Becker even though I already had the 9 in my possession. Still, you gotta have a 9.

If you are only pre-diabetic, there's a bit of research that would indicate you could nip it in the bud with lifestyle and diet changes. Once you develop actual type 2, there isn't a cure....yet. There has been some promising research in that area, they've cured lab mice of diabetes at MGH. Once you have it, your outcome really depends on how healthy you eat and how active you are. My parents are visiting for Thanksgiving and my 81 yo non-diabetic dad is carrying around a clipboard writing down every little bit of food that my 79 yo diabetic mom eats. She's been a diabetic for ~35-40 years, and still they're trying to do better job regulating her blood sugar and insulin dosing. OK, Imma stop right there. I will suggest a provocative book on the subject, though: "In Defense of Food: an Eater's Manifesto" by Michael Pollan. No answers, no diets, just an interesting look at Western diets an "nutrition".

Christmas tree is up!!! Just waiting for it to thaw out a bit more and then the decorations are going on. I'm a diehard real tree fan for Xmas, bit we haven't had one for a few years, so I'm pretty pumped to have one again. It smells awesome in here!!

We always get a real one. I love the piney smell.

Our tree went up this afternoon.
We always go out to the same tree farm and get our tree the day after Thanksgiving. And since the farm is really close to my mom's place, we get to stop in and see her. I guess that's becoming our family tradition.
Anyway, I just got home from work so I'm going to eat and crash. Goodnight all.
