Primble's Mystery GAW - Prizes Mailed

I was done wore out by question #3, but perked up for Secretariat.

Always.

[Secretariat still holds the record in all three Triple Crown races.]

I still cannot watch footage of the Belmont without sobbing.

Not "crying," sobbing. I start to weep at the one minute mark, and am Gone by the time he passes the flag-- "moving like a tre-MEN-dous ma-CHINE."

Every time. Oh, my 8-year-old heart.

I will also confess to having a Breyer model of Secretariat on my dresser....

Congratulations, Jone!

(The clue was "three rivers" for the former home of the Pirates, Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh.)

A valiant effort my friend and no - this is your consolation prize!

I wasn't going to brag - but - what the heck - this is Blade Forums:

Consolation prize for Mark and Macchina - I guess you could call this a "guy thing"!! :D

Nice photoshop job on the signature from Lynda there Primble. Send me the picture with the NY knife. Thanks dude.

This has got to be the most intricately woven giveaway ever, good job Primble and congrats Jone, I couldn't keep up

"You're a better (wo)man than I am, Gunga Jone!"

I did the first three off the top of my head, but when I got to one I didn't know, I quit.
Well, I still have a photo chance, and the drawing, so . . . .

Order of finish for Primble's Oaks Mystery Race: (Official Race Results)

1. Jone
2. Markesharp at 2.5 lengths back.
3. Macchina at 3.5 lengths back.

Thank you for that video link Pertinux - I enjoyed watching all of it.

Some experts say Man-O-War was better and Secretariat is 2nd all time, but, my opinion is Secretariat was best of all time and may remain that way!

There is a wonderful full size statue of Secretariat - at the Lexington Horse Park.

:)

What an epic thread. Thank you Primble and all who have contributed. I have been catching up every evening after dinner. I have been very entertained and have thoroughly enjoyed the images and commentary.

Congratulations Jennifer.

On to the next stage. Good luck to everyone who is in the running.

Chris

Well - I must first say I have had a lot of fun and I have enjoyed each and every post, every photo, joke, jab, and I absolutely loved the Mystery Race.

Congratulations Jennifer - an Official winning margin of 2.5 lengths, or questions, if you will.

Now comes what I have already found to be the most difficult part - picking the top twenty pictures, which I personally liked best. Some provided their own photos and others found great photos from their home area and leveled the playing field. It was really tough to narrow the field to twenty and I already know that narrowing it to ten, which is the next step, will prove to be a real challenge. How one feels about a particular image is personal - similar to taking a group of ten people to a new car lot and expecting they will pick the same vehicles you like.

Two members here played and chose to say - not an entry, either by saying so in post, or by PM. They would have made the top 20, but, instead are listed in Just Missed - last five out.

The top 20 images are:

and Just Missed - Last Five out are:

Thank you everyone for making my GAW fun and entertaining - I feel like I know each of you a little bit better!:)

Don't forget that everyone has a chance for the third place random drawing, even if you did not make the top twenty finalists.

Good luck to the finalists. This thread has been epic fun. :D

You ran a valiant race my friend - and helped out the others, in the process. I was proud of your 2nd place finish! :)

It seems ironic that the NYKC knife tang stamp eluded you for question 12 - since you liked it so much. ;)

I guess it was just one of those years - where Jone left every one to eat her dust - like Secretariat once did. :o:D

Down the straight away, Pistons and Gears pulling out to an early large lead. First in top ten. Congratulations!
