Before I loose any more days before posting on this wonderful thread I will post my story.
I realized that this was my favourite knife after our home invasion two days before my birthday last year. While not a single slipjoint was stolen, most of my other favourites will never be replaced. After that I thought about which remaining knives I would not want to be without. Other than the knives I've been gifted on BF, I have no others that hold a special place in my heart. So I show my GEC Executive Whittler in stag, the only present I've recieved for graduating two university programs, my present to myself. If it isn't in my pocket it travels with me in my backpack from here on out!
At our riverside picnic last Saturday:
Recently a client asked me if I could live anywhere, where would it be? Without hesitation I said here! Why would I love anywhere besides where my heart lives?!? Of course I would choose to not live in the city, but Edmonton is about as rural urban as you can get- the most river valley length within any city in North America apparently! Deer, coyotes and raptors are regulars here- nothing like having a four point buck run past you while waiting for the bus (no, I didn't get him, we don't carry up here)! Even bears and moose aren't unheard of in the city (bear being more rare but still there). In my province we have mountains, prairies, desert, rivers, lakes, +35°C to -40°C- basically everything my heart desires. We live in a pretty free world and I want to be where I'm happy, which luckily is where I am.
Here are a few pictures from the middle of the city from last weekend, and a few others as I can find them. The land is much more to me than the architecture, because I share this time out with the most important people in the world.
(We watched that balloon float down the river, then back up the river past us again and out of sight!! And then a kayaker paddling by asked us if we wanted it because he grabbed it! Must have been fate bringing it to us three times!!
(Guess who picks out my daily knife carry- I'll give a hint:
We can't get out to the farm as often as I'd like, so it's nice having nature so close to home that I can teach about nature when we get the chance!
Still in the city:
"Hidden" river valley we like to visit nearby
Thanks for the thread!
I am not a good guesser, sorry.
