Problem with guy from USA, who sent knife unright

I asked guy if he can make discount, because if he ship to my usa familiar guy (i myself am from russia), then I have to pay him too, so too high price. I asked FULL insurance. He answered he can ship overseas. We negotiatied about amount. I paid 600 more dollars for knife (VERY much money for me), the shipping was 60 more dollars!!!! Then he said he shipped with NO insurance!!! so i asked him to take risk, because we negotiated full insurance. but he doesn't agree, and i don't know if i will get the knife in this country, where post steals very often and already lost three of my parcels. What to do?!

For that kind of money, he should have insured it. I hope you do get it. I have never sent out a knife uninsured and never will. I give one price, which includes shipping and insurance. Good luck!
 
I truly do not understand people some times. Why would you send any knife- let alone a high end knife- without insurance? Especially if you made it clear you wanted full insurance before you discussed price. I sure hope you get your knife without incident. Do you have tracking at least? For me, in a situation where I specified inclusion of full insurance in a price and the seller skipped out on it to save himself a couple bucks and pad his pocket, this would earn a neutral feedback from me.

-PS, stuff like this usually goes in the Good Bad and the Ugly. You may get better results if you ask a mod to move it.

yes, i do, but it is already six days after it left milwuakee and no more notes, so i don't know, maybe someone stole it already.

yes, PP, as a gift. I asked PP one time about one problem, and they didn't do ANYTHING. so i don't know. I wrote in the line to manufacturer at the bottom of pay page very carefully what i sent money for, though.

If that's the correct link then why in the world would you pay via Gift to a guy with 71 posts and 4 feedback (2 of which are as Buyer)? I mean, and no offense, but its almost like you're looking to get robbed. In this case, aside from some remedy on this forum, you have little to no recourse.

If something goes wrong I'm sorry to say it, but you're 100% screwed with absolutely no way of getting your money or knife back. Do you realize that you basically committed a sin against humanity for using paypal gift for a $600 knife from a seller with hardly any history/reputation here? That is the biggest mistake any knife knut can make in their lifetime.

Since he supposedly already shipped it out, the best thing you can do right now is kick back and have a positive attitude. Don't stress yourself out, just imagine that everything is alright and your knife will show up safely within these upcoming days. I hope the best for you. I really do, and if all turns out well please promise us that you will NEVER in your life use paypal gift again.
 
friends, i am just newbie, i ordered first time from this site by paypal directly, i didn't know it is wrong - paying like this, everybody everywhere say gift gift gift - in every selling topic, and it is not any less than BIG PAYPAL HIMSELF so i thought it is safe! after your words i suppose there is no dispute available... if not, then why gift in any topic? then bladeforums should forbid it!
 
When you come to this section first thing you should do is click on " the consolidated stick list
Read all. but Especially in cases like yours #7. this would save a lot of headache/heartache just read

As to banning gift it is not the mods or. Bladeforums job to Protect paypals interest's or protect people from themselfs

I will only use gift if I consider & decide I can stand to lose it wouldn't send more than 50 bucks to anyone For any reason just Does Not make sense
I'm very sorry if you lose it but thats all in the sellers hands now ,,,,,,and sorry to say but you are the one the put him in charge, hope hes man enough to follow through with a deal.

GBU is a not on this forum for it's drama value...

I wish more people would start in the GBU section, and not end up here because they had a temporary lapse of common sense....

If you had a deal with the seller to insure the package, and he did not, then he has lost his credibility on this forum.

Think positive, Comrade! I hope that your knife arrives safely.

BTW- I shipped a knife to BF Member, "Prosstak" (44 transactions with 100% Feedback) to Moscow, & although it took awhile, it did finally arrived safely. You should contact Prosstak, his name is Pavel; he could more than likely enlighten you to what method's (i.e. shipping) he uses to minimize his risks.

Does paypal charge your credit card ? If so, you still might have a chance with your credit card company if the guy turns out to be a fraud.
It is not unusual that the tracking stops once it leaves the USA though. How long has it been ? I've had to wait up to 5 weeks for packages from the USA.
 
What service did he use to ship the knife? Is there any sort of tracking number? If he sent first class international, it could take up to a month or more. Priority international two or three weeks. International express two weeks tops. Find that out first.

Did you send the payment with a direct bank transfer or a credit card charge? If it was a charge, talk to your credit card company and see what timeline you have to file a claim if the knife does not show up. PayPal will do NOTHING for you since you sent the payment as gift.

Once you have all that prepared, try to relax and wait for the knife to arrive. At this point, worrying is pointless. Just keep in mind when your card protection ends.

Edit: more light shed on situation with issues getting insurance to Russia. Good luck.

To the OP, and for future reference, 'Gift' is for friends and family....

Some people who sell knives on here may be considered 'friends' after you buy from them and build up a relationship....

You have to ask yourself if saving the 4% extra cost is worth it?
 
so silly not to ship with insurance. The seller has an obligation to get the product in the buyer's hands and until he does that he is NOT off the hook.

There have been so many threads regarding this.....

I wish ALL sellers could just total it all up with shipping, insurance, PP fee's and give one total price for a knife.

At the same time, this is impossible to enforce even if you wanted to, the onus is on the buyer to stay out of transactions where the seller does not meet his obligations.

This particular case is different in that the seller was supposed to ship it insured but did not, that is an issue for the Mods maybe?

The choice to go PP 'gift' is on the buyer.
