Thanks to those knowledgeable few who stepped in and helped set the record straight. I had explained all of this to the buyer several times, but to no avail. No thanks, to all of those who piled on without knowing all the facts.

glad to hear it is secure, it is good for the chance to get the knife itself, BUT still it is not for sure, so have very much concerning about money, because no insurance - still i insist that it only would be right to send to my usa buddy, so he could insure. looks like you are so sure it is so secure - you could take a risk then. yes, i am paranoidal, life made me that like.

IMO you have no right to react this way seeing how you willingly used the gift option. From personal experience paypal always favors the buyer in a dispute. I've only used paypal gift twice in the past to sellers with a long history and good feedback.

Nowadays when I buy on the exchange I don't give a toots whether the person has been here since 2001 with a 50+ positive 100% feedback score.... I am not doing gift. Even if I buy a $1000 knife I am only paying $30 extra to use regular paypal. Unfortunately the knives I usually buy are hard to find so the buyer has enough leverage to demand I pay the extra 3-4% fee.... even then I gladly pay it because it covers my arse.

Insurance through shipping on the other hand covers the SELLER. When I sell a knife I always insure it because once again, the buyer has a lot more leverage if a dispute arises. If a person wants to be shady and claim they never received it.... what evidence do you have to prove they got it? Not to mention how many hands/locations the package goes through.... it's a big possibility for it to get lost or stolen along the way.

I just shipped a knife to the Ukraine . It was tracked and it showed a round about way the the buyer had never seen before when receiving a package from US so he was very nervous and contacted me a few times. But it got there in about 7 days.

Now this is my policy for shipping out of the US. And I know it sucks for the buyer but I am clear about my policy. Pay Pal gift outside of US . It is obvious the some country's have a hard time getting packages and they want a lot of stuff the US has to offer this is the problem. They want a item to the point that they will make a purchase knowing that the chances are less than favorable for actually getting it. Then they want a guy like me to pay them for the loss. No..why should i have to pay for some else's disregard for the law of averages .

I hope you get your package . I know $600 is a large amount of cash for you. It is for me too. But i feel that the risk is yours not the seller. You know your post office steals you know that the chances are high that package won't get to you but you buy anyway ? And forget about insurance .. You think that they will actually pay out the claim. You take the risk you pay the price for your own gamble.

NO. They pay when parcel isnt delivered. i bought this way insured maaany times and it was lost three times and they paid, that easy. So he should ask me and send to that guy and he would insure

Insurance, if you are going to ship to a well known area for 'postal theft' is a must....

It must be insisted for by the buyer, and it should always be the sellers responsiblity to use it.

This has been discussed.

The seller has to do everything he can to get you what you paid for, a big part of that is proper shipping, which always includes insurance...

I trust Registered more than Insured. Never a package that was registered has failed to arrive at the destination - takes time, but gets there. Most countries honor the Registered system, so please enquire about it when shipping overseas.

Mostly - if shipment is insured it is registered within price. If registered means tracked - trackeble to buyers doors.

Advice to the OP...be patient. I've shipped to Japan, Russia, Serbia, France, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Poland...all packages arrived. Japan and France took a week, the others, two to three weeks, but all arrived eventually.

PS...The fee PP charges gives buyers lot of protection for the fee...well worth it.

It's not about 'trust'....

This is the Postal system. It doesn't matter what 'service' you use, there is always a chance that something will go missing for one reason or another.

Package the item well, insure it to its full value, and buy tracking.

That is how you ship something, you put the liability on the carrier, and ensure you have recourse if something goes wrong.

RKPG do your best to have faith, what you think about, you bring about always and remember...

Vada eta jeezen, your folks made that saying for a reason.

Registered means tracked hand to hand within the postal system. Every clerk and every carrier has to sign for the piece and the recipient has to sign to relieve the delivering carrier of responsibility.

If it disappears en route, the last employee who signed for it, pays for it.

means water is life? what it has to do with it in this case?

Everything in this case in my humble opinion. Keep calm, chive on if you will or mind the gap Scale, I am trying to let our poster in Russia understand not all of us in Amerikanski are low down and dirty crooks with a little of his history and perhaps long forgotten past. Do you know why the Russian empire even brought about that saying sir or ma'am?

That's a wonderful way to send an expensive knife.

I think there was some miscommunication between the buyer and seller.....

A knife shipped with that kind of security, to a place that needs it, is above and beyond in my book.

A little more patience by the buyer would be the appropriate thing at this point.
