Proof of the pudding, photo of a BG-42 301

Thanks to Larry as well

Just out of curiousity 300, do you know offhand how other club knives have sold? I know the ones from the last newsletter are out of my league, and John mentioned other models that were still available from years past.

I can't believe I am going to say this but... I'm excited for Monday... :D I can't wait to check the mail!!!

All,

I will be spending my afternoon packaging up the 301s and will have them in the mail on Monday. I'm sure that you will be pleased with them. And thanks to 300 Bucks for keeping everyone informed here. He does a great job.

Picking a special project knife to offer for a fund raiser is always tricky. We do have to order minimums, so the knife has to sell very well, or we end up holding a lot of inventory. In order for it to sell well, it has to be priced right and be deemed a desirable collectible knife. We always strive to accomplish that. Each knife that we offer is only marked up between 20 and 25%. I wish we could still offer our annual knives in the $100 to $120 range. Unfortunately, we just can't hit that mark anymore when the BCCI pays more than that for each knife.

We rely heavily on the sale of knives to cover our newsletter expenses. And honestly, sales have been way down since the economy tanked. What once took only months to sell out, now takes a year or two. Our printer is a club member who has kept the printing cost down to a minimum. Postage has continued to rise though and last year we spent about $20,000 on the printing and mailing of the newsletters including the dealer catalog and price sheets.

I'll try to check back on this thread is anyone has any questions.

Thank you John.
Please convert my lifetime membership to electronic newsletter, number 2038.

Hi John--I thought mine was an electronic also, but last month I got both electronic and one in the mail. Please make mine electronic. I feel that the ones that want a hard copy consider charging them say $10.00 a year for the mailing and printing expense to help the club survive a little better.

I ordered the 301’s and waiting for them to arrive. I became a BCCI life member due to this site, Larry O and the covert list. I really enjoy the newsletter and support the club through the purchase of the club knives but wanted a 301 and was blown away when it came about. Figured it would sell out fast and jumped at the chance. Thanks BCCI and all that made it possible.
Bob

What is BG-42 like or compared to? I BING it. Bring it on. Thanks

The source I use shows it keeping company with S30V and S90V. It is similar to ATS-34 but has Vanadium and twice as much manganese which gives it better toughness and edge holding ability over ATS-34

Mine was waiting for me when I got home tonight. Got the plain model and could not be happier! Smooth, no blade play, very sharp, even bevels. Everything looks to be very will fit and finished. Thanks to all at Buck and the BCCI for making this come about.

Mine arrived this morning! East Coast to West Coast in 2 days!! :)

It is perfect in every way, and shaving sharp :D

This is one awesome knife! I want another one now that I have it in my hands!
It is now in my pocket :)

Got mine today as well. Plain model as well.
This 301 is really well made. All edges nice and smooth, no blade play whatever, blades shaving sharp. The white linen micarta is more of a light beige, not a true white. I prefer the beige coloring, personal preference.
The BCCI did a great job on this one. If there are any left and you're on the fence about getting one, I encourage you to do so. You won't be disappointed.

John

Looks great DesertChris! Badhammer and street soldier, I really like hearing what you've said. Looking forward to getting mine.

I got mine today in the mail about a half hour ago..
right out of the box they are beautiful...
I'm glad I bought 2 of them... Buy one if can... ☆☆☆☆☆

It will be interesting to see what one sells for to the non-BCCI crowd when they hit the bay!!
