Proposed 2022 Bladeforums knife??

ive been told its very gamey? or stringy? im not sure what the proper term is. However I do look forward to some day adding it to the list of exotic meats ive tried.
Wild rabbit can be gamey depending on what the are eating, and the variety of rabbit. It's like grass fed beef. It actually tastes terrible. Usually cows are finished up with grain to add fat and flavor. However, something like a cottontail naturally taste pretty good.

Rabbits raised that are fed well, with clean water, and subsidized with fresh vegetables taste like dark chicken meats sort of. Very tender.

I like to make stews or batter fry.

A little off-topic, but with rising food costs, it's not a bad idea to raise these little guys. They grow fast and multiply fast. Cages and exercise areas don't have to be big. Feed pellets are going up in price, but you can use your table scraps (veg/fruit), which means less garbage to spoil.

Again. Since you didn’t read previous post. I really don’t care if I get a crack at the BF knife. I won’t complain about it. It’s a knife. The ones who do complain have bigger problems in their lives. I’m not here to win one. Just pointing out that the comments are absolutely rude. The high horses you “older BF members” ride is really just a cloak of entitlement.

Hmmm...our comments are a "cloak of entitlement", but this:

Hmmmm, it’s easy math. You spend your time in one outlet for information and community for the hobby/brand you enjoy. I’m already spending it in twice as much as you being in the GECC. BF tab open all day. FB GECC checked all day. Following Instagram hashtags such as #gec #greateasterncutlery and #slipjoint to check out collectors pictures of their prized knives. Not hard to figure out my friend.

Perhaps you should put some more effort into "figuring it out" before you attempt to call the kettle black, eh? Just an idea.

I'm sorry, I actually have to laugh that someone is attempting to brag that they're bigger traditional/GEC fans because they think they look at knives in more places on the internet than we do. That's just....wow.

You guys are mistakenly thinking The Porch is rude. There is a history of exploitation that many members are obviously disappointed in, that was caused by a lot of new members scrambling to get the knife. It was further exacerbated by some of them flipping it for large sums of money.

There is even a YouTuber that created an account, scooped one up, and then decided to make fun of the Porch members.

There is an understanding that the knives are to be offered back to the community first, or better yet, don't buy one so another member who participates here can enjoy it.

At any rate, don't write of BF with a broad stroke. There is a lot to offer here.

Hi I’d like to point out that this isn’t true. I’ve had an account for here for years before that knife … and posted in the original thread last year when it was “50 forum posts” before the rules were changed to 50 posts in the porch. It’s a fact and you can look at my post history. I’ve lurked here for years and that whole ordeal really soured me on some members here. It is true that I didn’t realize the rules had changed and that’s my fault but I offered for the retailer to cancel my order- after I realized what I had done. And he said not to worry about it. You don’t have to believe me, that’s fine- but it’s the truth. I’m sitting the forum knife out from here on out man. It’s not worth it. I’ll just continue to post here with a low profile and enjoy pictures of classic knives.

OldSoul OldSoul This isn't meant to be mean spirited or negative actually but in about the last 40 minutes or so, you've made five post on this page that could have easily been wrapped up in just one maybe two posts. It's this kind of posting that makes some of us think that people are just posting to get their post counts up. I'm sure you're a nice individual and I'm sure that most in the GECC are good people - perhaps greedy but that's just the way I look at it.

That’s not entitlement. That’s speaking the truth. I browse here mainly because of the complete snootiness of the forum as a whole. Other groups are far more welcoming.

I'm genuinely curious, did you mean to quote me? I have over 8,000 comments on BF (mostly in this subforum), have only positive feedback here, joined before you did (almost 10 years ago), and most importantly didn't say anything negative about anyone. I simply pointed out that there seemed to be some confusion about what groups were being discussed.

If you were intentionally replying to me then I don't think there's a discussion to be had for us, but I wish you the best.

Oh yes, I meant to respond to you. People are talking down about Bladeforums in the thread posted about our knife right this moment. So, this idea that you're attempting to infer, that we must have GECC mixed up with some other group is false. I can see the post and the comments (and their likes) right now. You agree then, that it's really weird that a Facebook GEC page sends its members over here to try to score our Forum Knives, while at the same time talking trash about Bladeforums and its members, right?

Understandable. I apologize for the amount of post. I usually post seldomly. Usually photos. I’ll admit I don’t have the knowledge of the older members here, hence why I joined. I just got tired of the complete bashing of the GECC group in this thread. If it wasn’t for that group I wouldn’t be collecting these knives. I found out about GEC because of the FB group. This came second. And yeah. The BF isnt as friendly. At this point people here have put such a sour taste in my mouth I truthfully don’t want the BF knife. Really ruins the whole idea.

Oh no! A total stranger doesn't want our Forum Knife! What a tragedy!

Quoted for posterity. Thank you for sharing your genuine thoughts about Bladeforums.

And no, you aren't speaking the truth, by the way. Please stop attempting to portray your opinion as some sort of objective statement, it's a bad look.

Honestly. Been a memeber with GECC for two years. Have not seen that posted. Poaching for BF knives I’m sure would be dealt.

Quote away. Many people feel the same.

Hi friend. What part of my post do you disagree with? I might have a better chance at a reasonable dialogue with ya.

It sounds like you did not understand the rules, which is usually flushed out by the communication between those who graciously host the knife, and by members in the community.

And it sounds like you did a noble thing and reached out after ordering to make things right. The retailer said no worries, so it worked out.

What happened that soured your experience?

I would consider "gamey" to be a taste and "stringy" to be a texture. I've eaten a pretty good amount of wild rabbit and I'd say both can be accurate. But it's very good when done right.

I'm not as familiar with farmed rabbit.

See fellas, I live deep in Brooklyn. The only rabbit we get here comes from specialty or larger butcher meat shops, and unfortunately due to the economy we just lost one of our local meat purveyors. I'll live vicariously through your experiences until I can find an establishment that offers this. Tho ive had emu and bison burgers 😂 but who knows if theyre actually telling the truth 🤨 I look forward to venison too someday, but people say that can be gamey too 😒

Really? Multiple threads last year, all full of comments hating on Bladeforums and its members for daring to gatekeep our Forum Knife, you didn't see any of the multiple threads? Genuine question.

You literally said I created an account to scoop up a knife and that’s a fabrication. I think what I said was straight forward. This is why I’m soured. I have been a member for years who mostly lurks. And I have been a member of other forums where they offer forums products. The rules are simple post you want one, when they become available, you buy one. That’s what I did- I screwed up not knowing about the revision… and I paid a price where I got dog piled by about 20 people with high post counts go look.

That’s not what I said dude. The frustration and defending myself gets exhausting- it’s not worth it especially when some members are inventing fan fiction about me.

Oh yeah, AdvancedKnifeKid or whatever your Youtube channel is. Odd. I remember calling you out, after you fluffposted to get your post count up enough so you could score one of the Barlows last year. I recall saying you were just here for last year's Forum Knife, after which you'd just split.

Then, you got last year's Barlow and you just...split. So, essentially it happened exactly as many of us said it would happen. 🤷

I instantly thought about demolition man when he was eating that rat burger.
