Aesthetics rather than function?

Easy

This one hits all criteria

And I love the visual proportions on this one

This has been a great thread to follow - such beautiful traditional knives of every style. It's not easy to pick three, but it was easy to pick my #1 "most favorite". I favor the Stockman pattern and own a bunch of them, but the only Fight'N Rooster I own is this 4" Stockman; everything about it appeals to me - the bone color and jigging, the longer than usual bolsters, the fit and finish of the knife, the shape of the blades. I like it so much I won't carry it - I just keep it in pristine condition and look at it - like a piece of art. OH

Another favorite, my #2, is this Schrade-Walden #294 Trapper Jack. I can't seem to capture the sabre contour of the master blade on a photo, but the old time charisma that the fit and finish on this one exudes make it a pocketknife to turn in the hand in order to admire the lost art of the master cutler. OH

Finally I give the #3 spot to Buck Knives and their 100 series of fixed blades. The straight forward, streamlined style screams 1950's in the same way a Dreyfus streamlined steam locomotive screams 1930's - smooth, elegant, and functional. Buck 100 series represent the pinnacle of mass produced American Industrial design - blending well built, efficiently produced items that still have style. OH

WOW Jeff , it is virtually impossible for me to narrow my choices down to 3 but here goes : Each one is a Northfields .
1. This 77 Barlow in Desert Ironwood change my thoughts of having a Custom Barlow made .

2. I really like the handle shape of the 72's , 73's , 74's and 43's and knives on the larger size , and you know I really like STAG . When I first saw this knife I jus stared at it for a while .

3. IMO This Washington HJ and 77 Barlow Proto-type in Smooth Autumn Gold are just amazing . I am sorry , but I can not pick between the 2 of them .

Those are exquisite knives but the smooth autumn gold duo... oh my... :)

I agree Lostball, when considering aesthetics the Washington Jacks should be mentioned often :)...

As I went back through this page I had to stop and admire and reread your post again and I agree and would do the same thing!!!

Alan, from a Purely Aesthetic point of view I'd have to say the Washington Jack... on second thought, the Tidioute... no wait the Washington Jack for sure this time, yeah that's it the Washington Jack... or the Zulu... no, no definitely the Washington Jack... Can you give me a few days to think about it? :)
How 'bout you Alan? If you had to choose between those three for visual appeal only which one would you select?
