Purple! Because Ice cream has no bones!

Just a quick question, maybe a survey like has been done in the forums before, but what is everyone’s favorite blade length for a fixed blade? I know there are different sizes for different tasks, and I like large blades too, but what size blade do you gravitate towards for most of your needs? ease of carry, accessibility, etc? I see Dave’s knives and he usually makes about 2.5 to 3 inches for the cattle ranch workers. Mine is somewhere between 3.25 to about 4.5 inches, I am not listing lengths because there are too many variables for likes, but what do you grab most and why? Just my two cents to get a conversation going.

Second question, what size pocket knife do you like and do you pair it with a fixed blade? Or a Nesmuck trio?

4-6" for real work. 3.5-4" for EDC type of stuff.

I went Elk hunting last weekend in NW Colorado. Didn't see a thing on Friday evening unfortunately. However, saw plenty of Elk early Saturday morning, and managed to kill a small one. Used Dad's old pre-64 Winchester Model 70 in 30-06 (tack driver), paired with its vintage Colorado-made Redfield 3-9x40 scope. Love this gun! Beautiful Walnut stock that was run-of-the-mill for the time, but would garner a large markup these days if you found wood with this kind of figure. Weather was interesting. Never seen an ice storm after snow at over 9,000' before. Was very difficult to walk quietly when the was a ~1/8" layer of ice over 4-6" of snow. 👎

Got 'er done anyhow, despite the weather, and was back sleeping in my own bed Saturday night after a hairy drive home. :) Used a CPK EDC2 for all the skinning duty, and some of the disassembly work. That D3V holds an edge forever! Butchered all day Sunday, and used my Scrap Yard WS-1021 trailing point in SR-101 steel for quite a bit of it. Another variation of 52100, probably one of my favorite overall steels. Carried my stacked leather OG, but unfortunately you can't see it in these pics. :( The ring dangler sheath was really nice for hunting!

Hope everyone is having a good Thankagiving week, I've got some family in town so I've been a bit of a ghost.

Happy Thanksgiving, John. Enjoy your time with the family.

I'm headed to Michigan to see the kids, mom, and other friends and family. It's going to be a busy week. Mom always has a project for me. It's baseboard quarter-round this time. She had the hardwood floors redone.

Supposed to be on PTO but the wheels seem to be coming off at a couple customers. Did manage to get in a couple home projects. Gonna be a busy week. Still gotta get the wife’s car to the dealer, visit one customer, couple other work things. Hoping to get to the range and there’s a gun and knife show in town this weekend.

This week has been tough already. If you don't know, I unload, yes, by hand, a truckload of furniture every day.
Yesterday I had 9 drops. The first one was in an alley behind the store as most of them are. No dock, no forklifts etc.
This was what I had to unload...

Sorry Mack…
That’s tough work…!!
Truck “Driving” is only part of the work!!

Through the ages me & my friends have often said:
“I’d never **** with a mover!!”
Usually after just a half ton load of some friends furniture on a Saturday…

Just a vague question…
Does anybody live on the 1,2,3rd floor of apartments? Because anyone I’ve helped move is always on the 4th floor:rolleyes:

It's been a lazy week all around
wife and I are traveling to North Dallas tomorrow and back home that night
Hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving

Fortunately I don't do apartments or houses. Just stores. The friends that I've "helped" move have never been higher than the 2nd floor. Well, they may have been higher but their apartments weren't.

We talked about it and changed it I guess about a year and a half ago? Tim's doin great, he's been busy livin the retired life and still makes beautiful slipjoints. It wasn't any kind of falling out whatsoever, we've been great friends for 15 years. He's that rare "good people" that you only run across a couple times in life and has been like a brother to me.

Speaking of brothers, I just dropped mine and a couple of nephews off at the airport yesterday so we're back in the swing here at the shop. Had a great week with them, the weather was crazy warm. We did some shootin, forgin, tooled and carved some leather, ran Rc's, and our kids had a great time together. With a 7,9,11, and 13 year old at the house we were busy and had a wild time.

The forum seems to be hit or miss tonight, either won't load or is super fast.
