Maybe we should make this a sticky. Gunstock Jack had responded to this issue previously. You should be fine.

Thanks.... I confess I have not read all 17 pages of this thread. I just saw others talking about their verification, and didn't want to miss out on a technicality....
Don't email Barry!! He's a busy boy!!
If you got the PP receipt, your payment is good, as is your order!!
I will not email him (even though I found his email on my paypal page  ) Thanks, Charlie, for helping to keep us all sane.... I'll get back to my "lurking".... :)

This is my first time participating in a forum knife. Just out of curiosity how has this differed from years past in terms of the chaos?

It has always been pretty rowdy, but this year in particular has been rather bad. I think the popularity of the 2019 BF knife and the GEC craze overall is a huge contributor. If we ever do a forum knife again, GEC will be at the very bottom of my list - they do provide the best, but it isn't worth these kinds of headaches.

glennbad glennbad hit the nail on the head - the knife is the gravy, the Porch here is what matters and this year's knife process wasn't in keeping with that sentiment.

Sorry if I sounded snarky. I just meant that Gunstock Jack had already responded. You are not alone in asking this...I think majority of the people who paid yesterday, regardless of whether they put in the BF name or not (I forgot to), didn't get a notice directly from GSJ.

Now, we just wait and let the experts sort them out 😄

It's sad, but it just may be that until the GEC mania quiets down, we will need to find a different company to do the Traditional Forum knife. Vetting the flippers has just become too difficult.
Don’t think it’ll quiet down anytime soon and I can see how some genuine members of bladeforums want to qualify for the knife but it is of course sad that most folks seem the miss the point of the forum knife in general. As other have stated the knife is just the gravy, the real prize is having this space on the internet where we can talk about our favorite hobby.

Nope, you didn't at all... it was a good legitimate suggestion.... I just don't have time at work to read all the way through all this, and didn't want to miss because my "phone purchase" wasn't correct, but apparently it was...
I appreciate your response.....

Wow. I'm too tired to go thru this thread right now, but here are a couple answers.

I won't send confirmation from my site, but your PP invoice is good for now. I will 'fulfill' orders when I start shipping.

If you did not include your forum name you will still get the knife.

Please, Please, Please do not pay $999 if you dont have the code. I cannot refund PayPal fees.

Going to take a nap now....

If there are enough knives to go around we will likely let some folks buy a second.

Ok, zzzzzzz...................
Thanks.

I still never received any order confirmation from you. Definitely did not go to Spam or any other place - it just never got to my email address. I don't know if there are others here in the same boat.

BUT I have my receipt from PayPal and according to them you have my money. So, based on this post from you, I will "trust the process" that you will ship a knife to me, even though I have no confirmation.

Thanks (again) for everything - I can't even imagine how much work it is.

Not sure if I'm the one being mentioned by Quiet Quiet for having a bunch of posts in April. I've been a member since 2004, but had just under 50 posts at the beginning of April, the minority of them being exchange posts. I'm hardly active on social media and my 60+ hours of work per week usually doesn't leave me a lot of time to post.

I've never sold or even traded a GEC knife; but, with the public debates about post count requirements when the BF knife was first announced, took advantage of a lull in work to make a number of what I hope were decent quality posts.

FWIW, I sold Ryan Daniels the dark chocolate mammoth ivory back in 2009 that was used on GEC knives soon after.

My wife Kris had been doing scrimshaw and we had a large stockpile of mammoth ivory, which we sold off after she stopped. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't collecting GEC at the time and turned down Ryan's offer of GEC knives in partial trade for the mammoth ivory. waynorth waynorth also knows me from back in 2009 when I was still setting up at knife shows. I'll let him tell his own story, if he likes.

Busy day yesterday...then I got on here at BF around 3:10. o_O

But it all went well after I found Charlie's Ordering Instruction Page (I swear It was hiding for a while!), and Looks like I'm in business! Big thanks to Charlie, Barry, Frank, Gary, and Bill & crew! 👍

You know, I don't usually do this, but I took the time and went through your posts just now. Clearly you are a knife lover, modern and otherwise. I saw where you were asking legit questions about cover materials for a GEC knife, and participated in the 2015 forum knife, and you also like 110's. I also recall that you messaged me some time back asking about getting some work done, which I was unfortunately not able to assist with due to backlog. On top of that, you've been on the forum since 2008 (maybe a paid membership is in order?). You also haven't spent all your time on the exchange just buying things up. I think you are the type of member that BF appreciates. You contribute to the discussion and get involved. I get the feeling that many of the people that are asking if they qualify already know the answer to their question.
Thank you for the kind words. Bladeforums has helped me expand my knowledge of knives and also let's me help others. I love this community. I've been on the forums since an early teenager (my other account I forgot the password to a good while ago). I'm 33 now. I do remember your offer to help facilitate the restoration of my grandfather's knife, which funny enough I started myself last week. I appreciated that! Maybe it is time I get a membership. I love seeing the community as a whole but enjoy the helping more than the taking.

I did not mention you, because you meet both criteria, and clearly have enough actually participatory posts in this section. I am only calling attention to folks who don't have the posts (or don't meet the account age) criteria and who are here transparently for one thing, and it's not the community. You're good. Glad to see you around.

I’ve seen the back label pop up a few times in these threads and I’m resisting reading it until I have the tube in my hand. Hopefully I can resist but it gets harder every time it shows up! Thanks for everything you’ve done, Charlie, and everyone else involved.

I hate to pile on, but I guess I will. I understand that people want this knife. What makes it disappointing to me is that people who know they don’t qualify are ordering one anyway, hoping to sneak through, which only creates more work for everyone volunteering their time.

Quiet, maybe you'd like to do the screening, if there is a knife next year!! 😲 ;)
