I did end up ordering one... just in case one of my forum friends didn't get a chance at it.
I will be passing the knife along to one of them at cost, because that's what this forum is about.
When the dust settles, I'll figure out who needs one.

Be prepared to be bombarded with PMs, VMs, and emails from everybody else who isn't one of those. "Road to Hell" and all that...

Maybe Cutlerylover sure, but who is this guy? never heard of him

This is a trick right? The point is people trying to goad me into saying I haven't heard of them either. Well played.

This guy can vouch for me. Do you know him? "Beyond Vulgar"

Hoo Rah! .....
Does anyone know where Iì could get my hands on some Pervitin for next years knife...I will be needing to stay awake throughout the entire process so as not miss the order....
Cheers.

but I feel for those who came to the GEC game late, only to miss an opportunity once again.

This is where the issues come up. This isn’t the GEC game. GEC is simply making our Traditional Forum knife this year.

Joining in it for the “GEC game” is the reason there’s so much ruffling of feathers. Like we’ve see previously, when this knife isn’t made by GEC, there’s no mad rush to make post count quotas or random accounts suddenly barging through the gates, never to be seen again.

To those people, it’s not about getting a Traditional Forum knife, it’s just about the game.

Bravo to you! This is the attitude that makes this forum cool place to be part of. If you can spread the joy folks you will not regret it! 😁

While I do understand the initial feeling of disappointment when we miss out on various knife drops, I try and take a broader perspective in the aftermath of those occasions. I have had an amazing time building up the collection over the years and will just go back to appreciating what I have and worry less about what I don’t.

The man was joking! I spend a lot of time reading and pursuing the forums here. My channel is mostly for entertainment. It’s about the knife hobby- things you should do and shouldn’t. The culture of the hobby, and poking fun at myself and people who take it too seriously. The original post way back when said it was 25 posts- not in the buying and selling forum. I saw the post yesterday when I came to check these forums as I always do- ordered quickly without reading the new rules. Had I known it was only 500- and the forum was going to melt down over it… I would have abstained. I even emailed gunstock jacks asking them to cancel my order. I come here to look at the knives, and read the nice posts, and look at collections. I’ve been doing YouTube for years and always have pretty positive interactions with people. Knife collectors.. Manufacturers. Retailers. Knife hobbyists. I also don’t talk about it much here. I’m spread pretty thin across my social media and I also have a full time job- so I participate in different corners and different ways. Here’s where I come to read posts look at pictures learn about what’s happening in the traditional world- people speculate why Bill killed SFOs for dozens of pages. I almost ordered the viper swayback forum knife prior. But was broke at the time and then ordered the standard version anyway. My channel and IG are out there for people to check out and get a feel for what I like in the knife world. Which is mainly autos traditionals and fixed blades- and what I love about this ridiculous hobby.
I don't necessarily mean to rant at you specifically, it's more the idea that someone should be entitled to something not earned because of "celebrity" status. Joking or not it galls me, if you meet the requirements I have ZERO issue with you buying it. Your form of "entertainment" does not appeal to me, I do not enjoy watching people break things on purpose for "entertainment". Especially when its gross abuse, I get it breaking good knives on YouTube earns you money and adulation. I just don't get into that.

This. People have brought up if Case could make a knife next year as that would weed out the bums who just come here to grab the GEC. If you wouldn't buy the Case forum knife, you don't deserve the GEC forum knife. It is not about what knife it is! Those of us who care about it and treasure it will buy any knife that ends up being the winner. It's all about what it stands for, that's what matters.

I didn’t say I was entitled to anything! I have explained 100000000 times here why I ordered it and apologized! I didn’t bring up the YouTube thing! And I noticed you aplogized for ranting at me then continued to rant at me. There’s literally not a two way communication between you and I- that’s fine. We don’t have to like everyone we encounter. I get it. You think what you think about what it is I do, and that’s more important than what it is I do. You started out not liking me, will not see it any other way.

Ill say ive seen a few of his videos and i didnt notice him breaking any knives or really trying to break knives. I think one video and some comments put that idea out there. Its just a dude using a knife making a joke about the ridiculous of it with some smaller jokes inside that joke.

what if another dude came on here to buy a knife, while on his youtube, he is flipping knives. Whats better? The guy showing a knife in use or the guy showing a knife to sell.

not trying to defend anyone, no one should get one if they dont meet the requirements and hopefully they will go through the orders with a fine comb (gec offers a few…) and be able to make sure all who meet the requirements are able to get one. I do think all requirements should be post dated to the time of the knife announcement though.

By this logic I do not deserve one. This is my fourth year of eligibility and the first one that I purchased. I don't buy knives I will not use regardless of the source. That being said if there was a member that had every forum knife going back to the beginning that missed out I would gladly give up my knife so they could keep their collection complete, it would mean more to them. I also don't have emotional attachments to physical things. Some might argue that I don't have emotional attachments. A relationship would definitely mean more to me though.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE U.S. MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING AND ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FORUM KNIFE BUT DIDN'T GET ONE - READ ON!

I have held back a few knives until the exact number available is known. I won't know how many until GEC actually ships. If you claimed one in the original purchase thread but didn't get your forum knife email me at gunstockjack@embarqmail.com and I will put you on the waiting list for the few remaining.

I WILL BE CHECKING YOUR STATUS SO NO NEWBS PLEASE. Numbers are limited so keep it real folks. Thank you.

I get your point as well. I am someone who forms emotional attachments to physical things haha (not always a good thing). I was painting with a broad brush, and there are of course exceptions to that.
