While negotiations are ongoing still I tried a GEC run earlier this year in assocition with another party and they told that third party to pound sand. Still trying other routes though. But yeah I should have anticipated a “500 knife run and let them fight over it”. This place has given me so much fodder over the years- and it was a big inspiration behind my GEC video. Nevertheless I emailed Gunstock jack knives this evening asking him to cancel because everyone hates me. I’ll still use this place and lurk and never get involved with any limited run GEC thing ever again.

“they were who we thought they were!!”

Brother, I appreciate how you handled yourself in this thread. I wouldn't have held it together that well. I ended up ordering one from GSJ, and also got lucky and reserved on CK. If you don't get one, I'll pass one on to you at cost, or loan one for channel shenanigans free of charge.

The Knife in Question in fact all previous knives have been plainly stamped Blade Forums.....Spark gave his approval for this. So this is in fact an open knife for all members of Blade Forums...There is No "Sub-Forum" designation stamped on this Blade, Strictly speaking you are trying to make this a Protected Porch Members Only Knife. Not Talking about USED TO BE talking about the Current Knife. You can argue this until the cows come home, but in the end it's still stamped "BLADE FORUMS". I understand trying to keep this knife within the Porch Community, but people like myself would also like to own one, and not allowing that you are "Snubbing" other knife hobbyists for your own glorious ownership and gloating.

"The Porch" is a community. Some parts are looser and some are tighter than others, but it's a community. This knife is created by this community, for this community. It's a very welcoming community, but to be in it, you have to be in it. Nobody is excluding you other than yourself.

I’m relatively new to the forum but from what I see the porch members are the only people that are making the forum knives happen. Last year it was C collectorknives and this year waynorth waynorth and gunstockjack gunstockjack . Maybe that’s why us traditional guys are so protective of it.

??? Were BF Forum knives offered through CK?
No, sorry. I think my wording was poor. When CK sent our the alert for the early reserves I reserved one. Then I came over here to look at some posts about the knife and saw the BF version was up, so ordered one of those, too.

I'm thinking that Spark must have known the guidelines for eligibility when he gave his approval .

Just curious if anyone has received email confirmation from gunstock's website or if that will likely come after the background check clears ;)

It's only a few years since the only folks who were interested in our annual knife were the folks who post here  With the annual influx of the Pointy Elbowed Brigade these past few years, it seems a long time ago

Thanks man! I’ll be good. I usually get at least one variant- and I’m in a good spot for this one.

I'm in and I like the serrations but just reverse the direction of the flames. :p

Over the last few years, there has been some debate as to whether the annual knife is a "Porch" (traditional sub) knife or a broader BladeForums knife proper. It is a knife that gets designed and facilitated largely by the regulars of the Porch, within the constraints set by the Traditionals sub guidelines (what makes a knife "traditional" or not) and we've been doing it here for close to 15(?) years now (Not me personally, obviously, but the community as a whole).

I think it has been said in the past by some of the powers-that-be that this is a BladeForums knife and anyone who is a BladeForums member in good standing was welcome to purchase a BladeForums knife. That said, however, the annual knife for the past 15ish years has been hosted by the Traditionals sub and the design has always been required to fit within the constraints that we abide by here. I don't see why it is so difficult for some to understand why we might be affronted by the fact that there are some who don't participate here, yet they want in on a knife where we (as a whole) hosted the process, determined the design, and facilitated the acquisition.

We were all new here once so yes, I get it. But if one's first handful of posts are seen to be blatantly boosting post counts or brashly laying claim to a knife that we all have contributed to the conception of, it's going to raise some eyebrows as well as some hackles. How many of you all are going to stick around and contribute once you get your knife in hand? We would be both surprised and delighted if you were to do just that.

We aren't a group of curmudgeons (well, I might be) that only want a knife for ourselves. We value our annual tradition, however, and we'd rather you come and engage in a facet of the hobby that we hold dear here, rather than just popping your head in to lay claim to a knife once a year.

Seriously - pull up a chair, show off your knives, ask questions, engage with us beyond the singular focus of obtaining a "hot" knife. Most of us don't bite and we really, really enjoy talking about our knives - old and new.

Well, it's a shame you've only made 21 posts here in this sub-forum since 2011, otherwise you'd be able to buy one. I WANT doesn't always GET! :)

My 'glorious ownership' is limited to purchasing 3 Traditional forum knives since 2005 (including this one) ;)
I don't see you adding much useful content to the Knife Makers Forum, does that make you any more or less Knowledgeable about Knives?

If I get one Fine if not Fine....just saying the knife was meant for ALL Blade Forum Members Or Porch ONLY the rest of you take a hike....Pretty Sad this is how you a HUGE poster feels about another Enthusiast....I have never been able to get 1 Traditional Forum Knife....Most Likely because of people like you. Not saying your a Bad Person, but you certainly look down on the rest of us Non Daily Posters and shame us for not being more active.
