Attention Q and A re: the BF Spring Street Barlow!! Read carefully!

Every year it comes down to a “Black Friday” like battle for the few specially priced exclusive Blade Forum knife collectibles. Then changing eligibility requirements at the last as well as moving on without a thread announcing in advance the posting date for selling the available knives, is unethical.

Ok after this I'm done posting about THIS subject, its derailing the thread. But here's a screenshot of him pounding a Bullbuster through a piece of wood with a another piece of wood. View attachment 1646120
Please explain to the class how THIS isn't gross abuse of a knife.....
I would not even baton a sturdy fixed blade against the knot in a piece of wood. The tool is only as capable as the capability of it's user.

Guess you're throwing me out of the Room...Thank you for your time and tolerance, and sorry I made your eyes sore.
I think what I actually said was...
you could start sharing some of your knowledge and experience over here on The Porch, where I'm sure you'd be made very welcome
But perhaps it's time to put your feet up, and have a cup of tea, we all have bad days

Most entertaining forum knife meltdown thread yet. I thought the hurt feelings and bruised egos of the 2013 Congress jack would be hard to top, but here we are. 😁

The Congress jack is still one of my favorite forum knives….not another quite like it.

Looking forward to seeing these in hand once they get shipped and folks post pictures.

Heck of a way to round out a stellar GEC prodcution year….2021 has seen all the fan favorite patterns.

Is it? :( I really don't think anyone here is gloating at your expense :(

I'm sorry, but the only posts I've read of yours are the ones you've posted in this thread. Sorry you didn't get a knife, but I really think you need to move on, there'll be other knives
This is what you said......perhaps you forgot.

Another observation; I know many are upset over the “moving of the goalpost” regarding post count. If you remember, when the pre-order thread went up Blade Forums was spammed with folks from a GEC FB group who quickly spammed 25 posts and haven’t been back since.

Changing the thread count was a clever way of disqualifying those FB friends. The post count changed burned some of us regular BF members, but it burned the FB flotilla more.

At least we can appreciate that.

Let’s be happy Blade Forums is getting this knife.

It's a bit early but when the time comes, I would be in full support of approaching Case (again). Maybe things have changed since last someone had checked. That said, I am not confident we could meet their minimum - even if it was 500 pieces. This year is an anomaly and it is strictly because it is a GEC, and not just any GEC, a GEC Barlow on a very popular frame.

Both of the options you suggest would be alright in my book - I'd even advocate for a Sowbelly or medium stockman with a punch. I haven't found anyone who does a Sowbelly better than Case - short of a custom maybe.
A Case sowbelly with a punch would most likely get alot of interest

I don’t often post here, but I read a lot. As a casual observer, I can attest that the tone of this thread is very much unPorch-like!
Agreed
Honestly, if given the opportunity, I think we could come up with a very cool Case forum knife.
I think that would be really cool. Assuming we would be able to meet their minimum we'd still get a cool BF knife that might not cause the same sort of worries over a flipper frenzy. On top of that case has a huge catalog to choose from.

Silver linings in every cloud ;)

I meant you needed to move on and accept the fact that you might not get a knife, not push off!
You'll have to forgive Jack, English is not his first language... 🤣
See, that's funny because he's from England... Oh, never mind, just trying to lighten the mood. ;)

I get that you don't like it, but how is "moving on without a thread announcing in advance the posting date for selling the available knives" "unethical?" This the exact same way that many/most GEC knives are offered for sale by vendors. Please to explain.

I have missed out on BF knives before, too. I lived.

I'm personally very grateful for the wonderful folks who do all the work to make these knives available, and I'll be damned if I will sit by here and watch them be called unethical without speaking up against it. Meanwhile, if you want to take over this near-impossible operation in the future (assuming it has a future) and do it more "ethically" let us know.

I don't want to play cop or moderator here so I'll just give my feelings about the annual knife. When I first bought GEC knives or any knife it had to appeal to me visually or what I called a "what if" scenario." That meant I passed on some of the annual knives. However, as I became more involved in "The Porch" the annual knives had a lot more meaning to me. Sort of like a school ring or a fraternity pin. It's why I dont buy the annual knives offered in the forums where I'm hardly active. There are enough knives out there that I can buy that dont have that special attachment. YMMV

I attempted to add some levity to what is Very Serious Business* (please read in Winnie the Pooh voice) and forgot that is strictly verboten.

If there's one thing the whole forum knife process is known for, year after year, it's no funny business allowed.

I didn’t miss out on anything. I had no intention of buying any knife this year. I reiterate: Every year it’s the same. Last one I bought was the 2013. Nevermore.
