If we are lucky enough to get a forum knife in future years, I think this needs to be on the box/tube label. Would go hand in hand with a meako rambling.

Rambling.?..so my clever and precisely worded label which in 215 words has to accurately describe the knife, a history of its development and acknowledgements of those who played crucial roles in its accomplishment...whilst maintaining a rambunctiously witty and light hearted theme....is mere rambling is it?

Does Opinel do custom handle engraving? That might keep the budget reasonable for next year, and give us a good knife that no one would fight over...

We need the drama...its a big part the annual bf knife....the drama is the fire in which our ideas are forged....that plus the Swiss are very precise and not dramatic enough for this rowdy band of vagabonds....Id be all for a Porch SAK ...alox scales ...but on one condition....to increase its drama potential..a live Funnel Web spider in each tube...

It would be great with a stick figure graphic . Seriously cool knife for the forum. I wonder how tough it is to get a smallish custom run on them made. Such a big company I bet they wouldn’t tool up for under 1000. I have no clue tho.

At this rate, next year instead of a BF annual knife, the only option will be a BF 2022 engraved wooden nickel. Maybe it’ll have Charlie’s face on one side …. But we will probably argue which side.

Aw, missed out this year! One day away from Bladeforums and this happens. That is OK, as after 11+ years I don't post enough, I doubt I had enough posts in the "Traditionals" area to qualify.

If there are any extra, feel free to message me as I would be happy to buy one.

But, feel free to crucify me as well, as I have no idea what members here are referring to as the "porch", I have yet to see a thread with that name. Maybe a nice member can inform me?

I would certainly be on board for a tinker or Opinel forum knife next year. Maybe a few years of knives that are a little less attractive to the sharp elbow brigade.

I am sad that Buck won't do SFOs any more because I loved the forum knife they did (that was actually the only year I bought two), and it was very sad to see SKBlades shuttered. Most of the Buck knives I own were Silver Knight SFOs. It is a real loss. I am mostly a lurker on the Buck forum, but it was SKBlades that made me a lurker/occasional participant there originally.

I have a number of Forum Knives, a couple of which I've given away to people whom I think appreciate them more than I. There are three outstanding knives for me from the remainder: 2014 GEC Stag, 2018 Buck Elk, 2020 Viper Ram's Horn. These are the ones I enjoy carrying and actually using and they are all very different from each other, which is the strength of the Forum Knife- difference but quality.

I was saddened to hear that SK Blades had recently gone bankrupt as he was MOST understanding & accommodating in the polls and was very patient with the often strident demands that some people put forward. Seems this goodwill has soon been forgotten. But even then in 2018 there were those harping on about the 'Porch ' knife being 'flooded' by outsiders, taken over by Buck enthusiasts or by people who were unfamiliar and thus not 'legit' An unwelcoming and pedantic attitude. Now in this thread, a torrent of self-righteous condemnation, sneering, sniping, nit-picking over quotations back and forth has engulfed the place. Largely to the detriment of camaraderie and those indulging in it ad nauseam. If the 'rules' state 50 posts then that's what it is, it not the business of anybody to start posing as an expert on the motives or morality of new posters, not everybody is a member of the Predator Class of flippers. Clearly, flippers only succeed if people are willing to pay, and who as a collector has not sometimes overpaid for a knife whatever the context?

My apologies to Barry and Gary for adding to the morbid obesity of this thread, I will not comment further.

Well this is horse dung! I've been seriously working my butt off lately, and have barely had time to sit down, let alone be on the forum 24/7. I've been trying to check in here every few days, keeping my eye out for this drop to happen.

To find out that these somehow sold out (500 units if I'm not mistaken) in ~24 hours, and long-time members are missing out because of fu$%&#ing flippers is total crap! I'm not a huge traditional guy, but I've been enjoying last year's forum knives (and the Viper stag sowbelly I purchased a bit later), and was actually looking forward to one of this year's knives.

For the people who had previously expressed interest in getting one to miss out on this is flat wrong. I know this isn't Charlie's fault, but these flippers need to be hung upside down by their toenails!!! I hope there is some serious action taken against those caught flipping these knives down the line.

Whatever. Hopefully those that will actually USE them will enjoy them.

I didn't realize these were so limited. Seems like in years past there was question if we would even make it to the lower limit and getting 2 was common fair. Maybe it's the current GEC craze?

Either way, I've not been active enough on the porch this year to feel as qualified as others. I would forfeit mine to a more worthy person. I've been more on a traditional fixed blade kick anyway with several customs headed my way. I just wanted a cool knife and my traditional folders collection has been slashed this year to fund family hiking and camping gear so I've spent more time on those types of forums this year.

waynorth is there a good way to forfeit my spot to a more worthy person (worthy = better participation on the porch in 2021). Seems there are plenty of them, most of my porch posts are probably old at this point. There's a few names I recognize as long-standing members who missed out so I can just cherry-pick one for simplicity.

Am I being paranoid but did the 2021 Porch knife bloat a thon start back when someone spread the good news on facebook? .....gotta say that wasn't the Porchiest thing Ive ever heard of....seems to have opened the porchcullis at a time when it should be shut....
