I sure hope we will be able to use a different manufacturer next year as well as another the following year. It would be nice if we had enough manufacturers that we only had a repeat every 3-4 years. Maybe a german company can do something next year. Boker would be the excellent but still doubtful. There are a few others out there, as well as spain and france. Maybe mike at collectorknives will be in a much better situation and be up for it in 2023 and we can do another italian knife.

A sak would be really nice especially if we hired someone here to mod them. 30-50 for a wood clad spartan, hiker, or whatever. Add 5-10 a piece for a porch member to burn BF “year” into it. We vote on which items we want swap out on the knife. The modder(?) tacks on the amount needed to swap out the utilities. Should still be close to under 100

You uhhhh....you haven't bought a modded SAK before, have you? :D

Let's get back on topic here. What type of tasks (if you decide to use this knife) will it be carried for?

How will you patina it, Forced or earned?
I'll carry mine, just like the others. Any patina will be earned, a little at a time..... unless I have to slice a pineapple again.... that darkens a blade pretty quickly... my mesquite 23 benefitted from that on our Hawaii excursion...

this is the only one of 3 BF knives I have that will patina. The other two are stainless.... this pic was pre-pineapple for the 23, and the forum knife has acquired a little more patina....

im talking just a “blade” delete. Nothing too modified. At the most maybe a swap from maybe a saw to a blade from a classic. If we are doing say, 300 units, and the mod costs $50 buck a piece for time and parts, thats a nice hunk of cash. If we wanted 10 units, sure it would be harder for someone to agree to $50 per

Very sad that he is out of business. That was a fun year, picking out all the pieces of that knife. Lots of polls, lots of excitement! Stephen seemed to have a great time putting it all together…and then took a lot of grief after delivery for the way the knife turned out…
I didn't know about that :( Or that he had gone out of business, until yesterday. He seemed like a real nice guy :(

Stephen was an absolute pleasure to work with on the forum knife.
I'm sorry to hear this about skblades.

Only way to get patina is to earn it for me. As for the 2021 BF Barlow I think I will let it sit on display for awhile. I don’t know if it will ever get a patina.
