I don't buy Microtech or Cold Steel knives as I'm not a fan of their business practices. The fact that you think that I would be OK with any company ripping off a designer in such a blatant way is simply incorrect. This thread also wasn't about those other companies, so why would I even bring it up?

I think too many here are stuck in quartermaster threads from 2013. Not meaning just you, of course, but just the general jist of the thread. This video is on right on their main page... They produced it, I think because of many of the questions brought up in this thread.

I think the video shows guys in a machine shop showing off knives. No proof they make any of them there.
 
Yeah, I don't think it will get any more definitive than that.

Short of them strapping on a Gopro and seeing them made from start to finish. But how many companies really do that anyways.
 
Letting a large portion of the knife enthusiast community continue to believe that they're lying about the country of manufacture of their products cannot be good for Quartermaster as a company. The fact that they haven't firmly and definitively disproven the accusations (which would be extremely easy to do) is a massive red flag. The video posted above doesn't come close.
 
True but under the circumstances it would be wise to show more if in fact they aren't hiding anything.

Mad Blacksmith is openly advertised as Jared West's company. Low cost, chinese made knives.

Mykel Hawke knives. These blades have a connection with West, I believe, for those who were subscribed to the Mantis emails, as the Mantis/Jared implosion occured, his promotional emails mentioned a connection to this brand as well.

Combat Ready Knives. Another, now apparently defunct brand of chinese made knives. Their website is gone now, but some of their knives are still available from retailers. Some of these were very close in design to Mantis knives. I think there were some issues with design theft here, maybe why they are gone now. See earlier in this thread at mention of this brand. I remember when this brand debuted, the folding axe was advertised via Jared's email list.

Either way, I think I know way too much about this topic! :eek: I want to be an informed consumer... and basic internet research can find these things, and I have been following quartermaster since they started, and own some of the knives. So I definitely see both sides of the coin. But I in no way want to make some personal vendetta against jared west, seems like a guy who has tried many business ventures and just pissed off a lot of people along the way.
 
Look at all these principled individuals with their high morals and judgement. They make the world a better place.
Posting and making a point they would never support or even associate with any low life that has ever lied, broke a law,
used a drug, hired a hooker, etc..etc. Good thing you guys are around to criticize and look down on anyone that does
enjoy using or buying an inanimate object used to cut things....
on a serious note let people buy and used whatever they like. Unless you find a company thats run by a pedophile or a
murderer ....than have at it.

Yeah I that whole lie hooker law thing was edited out conveniently while I tried to quote it during one of the site outages. If someone told me they never did any of those things ever I wouldn't trust them at all.
 
Seems like the site goes down once or twice a week now.
And just to throw out I don't support quartermaster and yes.. what they claim smells funny.
I dont understand how they haven't been audited or found out by now if indeed the knives are
made in China.
What Im saying is if someone does buy their knives how about we don't go and judge them as well.
Doesn't mean they are any less moral than the rest of us.
