Quartermaster Knives has explaining to do

That Nohl Ranch addy is/was his apartment. Mantis HQ is 2 blocks from me at work. That place is NOTHING like it was ever pictured. In person Jared is an okay guy...although no one acts shady in person. I have met his Dad and he is also a very nice gentleman. For all of the wonky stuff that surrounded the both of them and their respective companies I ceased to have any contact with them. Take it for what it's worth...but it seems like caviar taste on a beer budget and Jared will never be the rock star knife maker that he fantasizes about becoming.

Oh, I forgot all about that! Who would have looked for COPIOUSITY LLC . Forgot all about those shippments from CHINA. 100 percent American made eh?
Cargo manifest states 800KG pocket knives from China, that's 1763.7 POUNDS! Lol,let's just call it a ton of Chinese knives

Holy... A ton of Chinese knives being masqueraded as US knives and marked up accordingly... That's a lot of pockets full of doo-doo.

This doesn't sound good at all. Maybe this is why I am having no luck selling or trading my QTR-6 even though it seems like a quality product just a little too heavy for me to carry.

Recently I picked up a Quartermaster trade, the QTR - 5CC (or whatever) its a karambit - I'm an uber Benchmade fan, but like many others the QTR's looked pretty wild and company claims about quality, etc., so I figured go for it on the trade. Only in blade forums would ppl understand; something just doesn't feel right about the knife - it doesn't have the "made in america" "feel". When you hold/fondle a Spydie thats made in Colorado or a BM, or a custom knife makers work, it has the feel.....to me this QTR5 doesn't have that made in America feel....

my 2cents

I own 3 QM knives. I did not know of any "situation". I do know they make a solid knife. And they feel as solid as any knife I have. I do not see how any of the comments made here, show any problems with the Actual Knives. Sounds like again this thread is focusing on a person or persons, not on the actual knife. The knives say, " usa made " unless everyone is saying that is a lie, what is the point ? Many knife makers are not understood, or worse. I have no ideal or care who Jared is, I thought this site was about knives. Where in this thread did QTR MST as a knife fail anyone. We could talk personalities forever, and using the same Bible Quoted here, Judging is not very well accepted.

Rb, that is exactly what everyone is saying. The company says their knives are "Made in the USA", however there are shipping manifests from China that indicate the parts are actually made in China, not in the US. That right there is false advertising and a cargo boatload of BS in my book. Whatever the truth is about their knives is, they are not being honest about them. They might be assembled in the USA, but they sure aren't made here based on those shipping documents. Besides, he has a previous history of shady behavior with "mantis" claiming to use a very hard to get steel when no other maker at all had it, he seemingly had an unending supply, on and on.

Rev, thanks for making that clear and with meaning. It would seem that he would be in jail by now for trade infringements ??
I called the # listed here, it is disconnected, I also used net and 411 and got 2 other numbers , also did not work. CRAZY, and strange this crowd has not buried him. So now I sit with 3 QTRMSTR boxes bearing the American Flag, "USA MADE FOR DOMESTIC USERS NOT FOR EXPORT" boldly printed on the boxes. Boxes also read , " QTRMSTR KNIVES ARE MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OR AMERICA. Of the people who directly meet Jared, did anyone directly ask him, " why do you lie, are your knives made in china, where is your factory". Seems like Jared can be found, and " In person, Jared is an o.k. guy ".
But is he a lair, crook, fake knife maker ? I know for sure what his knives say and the boxes. And I wish Jared would come clean, or someone ask him directly about the tons of evidence floating out there. If he lived 25 miles from most of us, we would have an answer and photos to show for it. I purchased, from this site, without knowing 2 Chinese made knives in 2014, Boker, and Spyderco, both sit in a land field today. Many, many companies are allowing the mfg. of their knives in China today, but they mention it, whether sellers/traders here do or not. I will not own any. So there goes 3 Quarters to the trash. DAMN !!!!!!!

If I am not mistaken a product can be labeled US MADE if it is over 51% made in the USA. You would be shocked how many US MADE knives use Chinese parts/screws/etc.

The knives may be great for all I know but they are made in China at this address.

Well damn you don't have to go that far. You could ship them to me and save yourself a trip to the land fill?

You are mistaken.

Made in USA means that “all or virtually all” the product has been made in America. That is, all significant parts, processing, and labor that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. Products should not contain any – or should contain only negligible – foreign content.

That's from the Federal Trade Commission website.

Wow...can't believe the hair style on Jared West...interesting knives...

Woah woah woah, that's just "Jared", a humble sales rep from Quartermaster Knives. Not to be confused with the infamous "Jared West" formerly of Mantis :D:rolleyes:

Brownbagging it to an industry show while simultaneously looking like someone on the wrong side of a week long heroin binge. Gotta love Quartermaster! One of those blades looks a lot like that of the GTC Airborne.

I think that the fraud perpetrated by Quartermaster (claiming Chinese made knives are made in USA, lying about having manufacturing facility, misrepresenting Jared's role in company) is fairly common knowledge. Why do people continue to buy Quartermaster? Why does Blade HQ, who knows about this and posted on anther thread, continue to sell this stuff? Am I the minority by feeling that this type of behavior is unacceptable?

The knives may or may not be nice. To me, that is irrelevant. This company blatantly misrepresenting itself and I cannot imagine condoning that behavior by giving them any of my hard earned $s.

Why any retailers do business with known shysters is a bit unsettling, but it is far from a mystery.
